Waste Connections is seeking a high-energy Accounting Intern to join our team this summer!</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist with monthly financial close processes and prepare financial statements for assigned operating locations. </li><li>Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy. </li><li>Analyze and report significant financial variances against budget and forecast. </li><li>Conduct rate analysis and provide strategic financial insights. </li><li>Communicate financial information effectively with operational teams. </li><li>Manage accounting data flow between remote facilities and corporate systems. </li><li>Support quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal reviews. </li><li>Participate in annual budgeting and financial planning processes. </li><li>Train non-financial staff on internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial statement interpretation. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>What We're Looking For:</p> <ul> <li>Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Accounting or Finance. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems. </li><li>Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. </li></ul> <p>We Keep Our Promises!</p> <p>At Waste Connections, we believe in empowering our employees.
