With approximately 130 faculty and staff, the College of Fine Arts serves roughly 1000 students. With exciting festivals, an arthouse cinema, museums, and a professional theater company, the College of Fine Arts deepens the quality of life at Ohio University, in the Athens community, and for all of southeast Ohio.</p> <p>The School of Music invites applications for a full-time instructional position in voice, specializing in both classical and crossover styles. The ideal candidate will excel in performing and teaching diverse vocal styles, including classical, commercial music, jazz, rock, musical theater, and various global non-Western vocal traditions. Candidates must have a strong background in science-informed voice pedagogy (both classical and crossover styles) and the ability to teach additional courses in the voice area, such as lyric diction or vocal literature. Advanced training in foreign language diction for classical singing is essential. Proficiency in microphone and amplification techniques, along with a solid understanding of the music business, industry, and entrepreneurship, is highly desirable. Responsibilities for this position include teaching applied voice to undergraduate and graduate students in both classical and crossover styles. Additionally, candidates will be expected to actively participate in recruitment and retention efforts, provide leadership in curriculum and program development, and engage in service on departmental, college, and university committees as required. Maintaining an active performance and/or scholarly profile in both classical and crossover genres is a plus. Faculty will be expected to primarily teach in-person on Ohio University main campus in Athens, OH. Instructional faculty in the College of Fine Arts typically have the equivalent of a 4-4 teaching load per year.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Master's degree</p> <p>Advanced training in science-informed voice pedagogy</p> <p>Advanced training in foreign language lyric diction</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Specialized advanced training, certificate or degree in voice performance, crossover training, singing health specialization.</p> <p>Education and experience in music business and/or entrepreneurship.</p> <p>Five or more years of experience in performing and teaching crossover vocal styles.</p> <p>Department School of Music Pay Rate Job Open Date 02/26/2025 Posting Close Date</p> <p>The position will remain open until filled.
