<p>About the Job</p> <p>DIRECTOR - U MARKET, PRINTING, AND GENERAL SERVICES</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>The Director of U Market, Printing, and General Services is responsible for providing leadership and overall management of the departments of U Market Services, Printing Services, and Addressing and Mailing Services. These units successfully deliver procurement, materials management, logistics, print production, graphic design, print sales, copy services, and addressing and mailing services functions on the Twin Cities campus and, in some capacities, to all five system campuses. The Director is charged with providing leadership for business operations and day-to-day</p> <p>management, oversight, and direction of the department with an annual operating budget of $20 million and a team of approximately 70 FTE. The Director reports to the Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Services and serves as a member of the Auxiliary Services leadership team.</p> <p>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Leads the overall strategic and operational activities for U Market, Printing, and General</p> <p>Services, including management, oversight, and direction of these operations.</p> <p>Drives innovation and transformational change to support achievement of service</p> <p>excellence, strategic outcomes, sales growth, and revenue optimization.</p> <p>Creates a culture of accountability and ownership, by establishing the vision, strategy and</p> <p>departmental goals.</p> <p>Builds and fosters a positive work environment, incorporating the university's commitment</p> <p>to equal opportunity and recruitment, retention, and promotion of a diverse workforce,</p> <p>empowering employees to use their full range of talents and abilities.</p> <p>Champions the University's sustainability goals and initiatives, including procurement- and</p> <p>logistics-related issues central to all five campus climate action plans.</p> <p>Provides leadership for the University's procurement efforts, including negotiation of major</p> <p>contracts. Serves as the subject matter expert for procurement, distribution, inventory,</p> <p>print, and mail related procedures and processes.</p> <p>Builds a strong working partnership with key university leaders, stakeholders, external</p> <p>partners, and vendors; represents the university on university-wide committees, initiatives,</p> <p>and in the community.</p> <p>Cultivates and nurtures an environment that values and promotes customer service and</p> <p>emphasizes a customer-centric approach in all day-to-day operations.</p> <p>Enhances employee engagement by driving and supporting the development of action plans to address issues. Promotes and sustains an employee-focused work environment.</p> <p>Provides leadership in improving processes that enhance collaboration and service delivery</p> <p>to meet current and future needs of the campus community, identifies and secures new</p> <p>business opportunities, partners, and customers.</p> <p>Ensures the overall performance (financial, service, productivity) of these units, including</p> <p>development and oversight of annual budgets, revenues, and expenditures.</p> <p>Provides short- and long-term strategic planning related to the development and delivery of</p> <p>initiatives, products, and solutions that support the University's three-part mission.</p> <p>Develops and implements programs, policies, and initiatives which contribute to an</p> <p>exceptional campus experience.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>The position requires a significant physical campus presence. The Director works both in an office setting and in the field.
