Designed with the adult-learner in mind, but open to students of all ages, the BAS degree offers a flexible learning experience for students.</p> <p>About the Position:</p> <p>The Term Instructor within the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program is responsible for teaching undergraduate career development, research, and capstone/practicum courses to students within an interdisciplinary major.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teaches career development and/or research courses in the undergraduate program. The teaching load for this position is 4 courses per fall and spring semester. </li><li>Additional responsibilities include service to the BAS program, the University, and the profession, such as academic community engagement, student mentoring, committee membership, and interfacing with the George Mason community. </li><li>Assess current curriculum annually, and redesign courses as-needed to ensure curriculum remains relevant to today's career fields and expectations. </li><li>Coordinate all sections of assigned courses to ensure continuity across the department. With the BAS Director, ensure adjunct faculty have the materials necessary to successfully teach courses. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in a related field; </li><li>Two or more years of relevant teaching experience in higher education; </li><li>Experience teaching fully online courses; </li><li>Experience leading undergraduate capstone/practicum projects; </li><li>Experience working with contemporary students; </li><li>Knowledge of best practices for leading undergraduate capstone/practicum projects; </li><li>Knowledge of the unique needs of contemporary students; </li><li>Ability to teach and mentor undergraduate students from a variety of backgrounds; </li><li>Ability and commitment to collaboratively work with a fully remote, diverse group of faculty and staff; </li><li>Ability to teach college-level courses; </li><li>Ability to teach fully online courses; and </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience teaching students pursuing technology-related degrees (i.e., Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Information Technology, etc.); </li><li>Experience teaching transfer students; </li><li>Previous experience using Canvas LMS; and </li><li>Previous experience using Banner. </li></ul> <p>Instructions to Applicants:</p> <p>For full consideration, applicants must apply for the Term Instructor, Bachelor of Applied Science at https://jobs.gmu.edu/.
