We look forward to hearing from you.</p> <p>Hatch is seeking a highly motivated, Korean-speaking Senior Mechanical/Piping Engineer to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) in Chicago, IL. This role offers the opportunity to lead integrated, multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering complex projects across the United States and globally.</p> <p>As a senior member of the PDG, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship while driving high-quality engineering execution. You will apply your expertise in mechanical design, piping systems, stress analysis, and hydraulic engineering, while supporting Hatch's Digital Project Delivery initiatives, including intelligent 3D modeling and data-centric, multi-discipline engineering.</p> <p>This position plays a critical oversight role and is ideally suited for a licensed Professional Engineer with strong leadership capabilities and hands-on project experience.</p> <p>What You Will Do</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead and manage mechanical and piping engineering activities to ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, regulatory, and client-specific engineering standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop a thorough understanding of project scope, execution strategy, cost, and schedule in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.</p> </li><li> <p>Define engineering deliverables and time-based activities to support planning, budgeting, and cost control.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct and support site visits to gather technical data and support project execution.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead equipment identification, selection, sizing, layout, specification development, and vendor technical evaluations.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee piping system design activities, including:</p> </li><li> <p></p> </li><li>Hydraulic analysis <p></p> </li><li> <p>P&ID development</p> </li><li> <p>Material specifications</p> </li><li> <p>Stress analysis</p> </li><li> <p>Piping layout</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and maintain project work plans, scope documentation, and execution strategies throughout design evolution.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage and review engineering work packages to ensure adherence to budget and schedule, implementing corrective actions as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Review, approve, and sign off on technical deliverables.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the development of project-specific procedures and engineering documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate mechanical and piping activities with other engineering disciplines.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in project coordination meetings and represent the Mechanical/Piping discipline.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure quality audits are completed in accordance with project procedures and quality assurance plans.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in HAZOP reviews and other safety and risk assessments.</p> </li><li> <p>Resolve engineering issues across all project phases, including planning, design, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning.</p> </li><li> <p>Promote ethical, professional, and safe engineering practices in alignment with Hatch's corporate safety culture.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university. </li><li>Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. </li><li>Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience. </li><li>Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate technical teams to achieve quality, cost, and schedule objectives. </li><li>Strong planning and organizational skills with a deliverable-focused mindset. </li><li>Solid understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies and project execution. </li><li>Working knowledge of procurement, contracting, and commissioning practices. </li><li>Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations. </li><li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. </li><li>Prior site-based technical experience preferred. </li></ul> <p>Why Join Hatch</p> <ul> <li>Flat, collaborative organizational structure </li><li>Long-term client and team relationships </li><li>Opportunity to make a meaningful impact </li><li>Ownership mindset and accountability </li><li>Values-driven culture grounded in integrity </li></ul>
