<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION:</p> <p>Innovation Teacher</p> <p>(Certified in one or more of the following: Elementary Education 305, Technology Education 047, Library Media Specialist 062, General Science 034 or 234 or 235. Other valid CT certifications can be considered)</p> <p>Pearson School, a grades 3 - 6 elementary school, is seeking a passionate, forward-thinking STEAM Innovation Teacher to lead our students in inquiry-driven, interdisciplinary learning experiences that integrate science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics. This position also includes managing and evolving the school's library media center to support 21st-century skills, digital literacy, and equitable access to information.</p> <p>This unique hybrid role empowers a certified educator to cultivate creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning-both through innovative STEAM instruction and by serving as an instructional leader in media literacy and research practices.</p> <p>POSITION DESCRIPTION:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Current and Valid Connecticut Teacher Certificate.</p> </li><li> <p>Extensive work experience in STEM/STEAM preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Evidence of at least three years of exemplary classroom teaching experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>A proven track record in the use of a rich array of instructional methods, the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction, and the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.</p> </li><li> <p>Evidence of Inquiry-based instructional experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Deep understanding of Engineering Principles, Inquiry-based Instruction, NGSS, AASL and CCSS.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven ability to collaborate with teachers regarding student learning.</p> </li><li> <p>Desire to continue learning and developing the curricular program as it relates to STEAM and innovation.</p> </li></ol> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Design and deliver hands-on, project-based learning experiences across STEAM disciplines, aligned with state and national standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate interdisciplinary learning that encourages innovation, design thinking, and real-world problem-solving.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a makerspace or innovation lab, ensuring safe and effective use of materials and technology (e.g., robotics kits, 3D printers, coding tools) to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.</p> </li><li> <p>Support student participation in STEAM-related competitions, clubs, or showcases.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend professional development and training related to STEAM programs and methodologies, staying abreast of current research.</p> </li><li> <p>Curate and manage a diverse, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate collection of print and digital resources.</p> </li><li> <p>Foster a reading culture by promoting a love of reading and learning</p> </li><li> <p>Teach students how to access, evaluate, and ethically use information and technology.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure the library functions as a flexible learning space for collaboration, research, and exploration.</p> </li></ol> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Current and Valid Connecticut Teacher Certification </li><li>Proven, extensive experience with Inquiry-based Instruction </li><li>Three years teaching experience (preferred) </li><li>Strong classroom management and student engagement skills. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Experience managing a school library/media center. </li><li>Knowledge of coding, robotics, 3D design, or other emerging technologies. </li><li>Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to support cross-curricular initiatives. </li></ul> <p>TERM:</p> <p>In accordance with Winchester Education Association Contract</p> <p>Pay Range - $44,147 - $97,776</p> <p>APPLICATION PROCEDURE:</p> <p>Please visit the Winchester Public Schools website to apply online at www.winchesterschools.org.
