<p>Job Summary</p> <p>The ICU Technician provides high-quality, patient-centered support within the Intensive Care Unit by performing delegated clinical and non-clinical tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). This role assists with the delivery of direct patient care, monitors vital signs and basic diagnostic data, and supports ICU operations to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient care environment. The ICU Technician contributes to improved patient outcomes by supporting the critical care team in meeting the unique needs of high-acuity patients.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the RN, following care plans and departmental protocols. </li><li>Obtains and documents patient data, including vital signs, intake and output, and other clinical observations, alerting licensed personnel to abnormalities. </li><li>Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, oral care, elimination, nutrition, and mobility support. </li><li>Supports patient mobility by turning, positioning, transferring, and ambulating patients using proper body mechanics. </li><li>Collects specimens for diagnostic testing, ensures accurate labeling, and facilitates timely transport to the lab. </li><li>Assists with admissions, discharges, and patient transfers within or outside the ICU. </li><li>Maintains a safe and orderly care environment by restocking supplies, cleaning equipment, and reporting maintenance issues. </li><li>Serves as a monitor technician (Monitor Tech) for the unit, observing telemetry and reporting changes to clinical staff, as needed. </li><li>Provides emotional support to patients and families, demonstrating empathy and compassion in critical care settings. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li><li>Complies with all policies and standards. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Completion of a Patient Care Technician (PCT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or Medical Assistant program preferred </li><li>0-1 years of experience in a hospital or critical care setting required </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of basic patient care practices and terminology. </li><li>Ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced ICU environment with a multidisciplinary team. </li><li>Proficiency in collecting and documenting vital signs and patient observations. </li><li>Ability to respond appropriately to emergency and crisis situations. </li><li>Effective communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and clinical staff. </li><li>Understanding of infection prevention and patient safety practices. </li><li>Basic computer and clinical documentation skills. </li></ul> <p>Licenses and Certifications</p> <ul> <li>BCLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) BLS required </li><li>CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant preferred </li></ul>
