<p>Benefits / Business Office Assistant JobID: 4965</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Office Personnel/Benefits/Business Office Assistant</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>8/21/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>District Office</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>As Agreed Upon</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>09/02/25 or Until Filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Benefits/Business Office Assistant</p> <p>Status: 40 hours / week, Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm, 260 days / year</p> <p>Position: Office Personnel/Secretary, Benefits/Business Office Assistant</p> <p>Location: District Office</p> <p>Rate of Pay: $26.51 - $28.50 per hour</p> <p>Beginning: As Agreed Upon</p> <p>Deadline for Application: 09/02/2025 or Until Filled</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>This position is responsible for, but not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Handles claims for property insurance, ltd, life insurance, and workers' compensation insurance. </li><li>Maintains process for collections and NSF checks. </li><li>Maintains records for various district office functions and programs. </li><li>Manages enrollment and maintenance of the District's hospitalization/medical, LTD, life, and dental insurance plans including reconciliations. </li><li>Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollment information to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information. </li><li>COBRA initiation, tracking, monitoring, and monthly reconciliation. </li><li>Assists with new employee benefit orientations. </li><li>Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes. Enrolls employees with carriers and processes life status changes. </li><li>Serves on the districtwide insurance committee. </li><li>Facilitator for 1095 tracking and reporting. </li><li>Assists with the completion of verification of employment requests. </li><li>Assists with DMV record reviews. </li><li>Communicates and assists with the coordination of the open enrollment process. </li><li>Maintains the petty cash account along with the reconciliation of the account. </li><li>Maintains the digital filing system. </li><li>Prepare retiree severance calculations. </li><li>Maintains ESST accruals. </li><li>Confidential secretary to the Director of Finance and Operations and the Controller. </li><li>Receptionist for the district office and directs inquiries and visitors to the appropriate individuals. Answers various inquiries from personnel and the public. </li><li>Sorts and distributes mail. </li><li>District office inventory and supply management. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Operations and the Controller. </li></ul> <p>DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Specific training or job experience required before appointment:</p> <ul> <li>2-year degree preferred in HR or accounting or related work experience </li><li>Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. </li><li>Ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow. </li><li>Accurate attention to detail. </li><li>Good analytical and problem solving skills. </li><li>Strong customer service skills. </li><li>Ability to work under deadlines. </li><li>Ability to complete tasks while working closely with others. </li><li>Mission of service. </li><li>Positive attitude. </li></ul> <p>See why BHM Schools is the place to dream, believe and achieve.
