<p>GIS Cadastralist</p> <p>Location: 315 Court Street, Clearwater, FL 33756</p> <p>Work schedule: Remote work available up to 2 days per week after completing the initial training period</p> <p>Pinellas County Property Appraiser Mike Twitty and his staff are dedicated to producing a fair and equitable tax roll while providing courteous, knowledgeable, and efficient customer service.</p> <p>The Pinellas County Property Appraiser's Office is seeking a mapping and GIS specialist. This entry level position has a salary starting at $42,982.37 - $55,860.64 annually. As a member of our working team, you will occupy a position offering a unique challenge. You are, in effect, working both for your neighbors and yourself while constantly improving your community.</p> <p>This is the Property Appraiser's Office (PAO) entry level work of routine technical difficulty in the area of cartography and GIS technology to collect and maintain property and cartographic data essential to the compilation of maps and databases used for property appraisal purposes. Work involves entering, editing, and correction of parcel (cadastral) data within the Geographic Information System (GIS), and the use of peripheral software and equipment as required. The incumbent will have limited access to the internal system operation and will be under complete supervision throughout each phase of production. The incumbent reports to a supervisor or designee.</p> <p>What Would you Do?</p> <ul> <li>Reads and interprets simple lot/block and metes and bounds descriptions. </li><li>Conducts limited abstract searches and assists in the preparation of proper legal descriptions of the various parcels involved using information technology. </li><li>Performs the splits, combinations, additions, and deletions of parcels and effects changes to property ownership maps using an in-house automated information system. </li><li>Uses ArcGIS Desktop and editing tools to perform simple map edits and maintain parcel data and tax district boundaries. </li><li>Furnishes basic information concerning property descriptions to citizen inquiries. </li><li>Checks records for possible errors and brings same to attention of supervisor. </li><li>Performs related work as assigned or required. </li></ul> <p>What Do you Have to Have?</p> <p>4 years of experience in cadastral (parcel) mapping, or in supporting geographic information systems by producing graphics, mapping or related support; or</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree or technical diploma in surveying, engineering, cartography, or computer science or a related field and 2 years' experience as described above; or </li><li>Bachelor's degree in surveying, engineering, cartography, or computer science or a related field. </li><li>An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience. </li><li>May be required to take and pass a demonstrated skills test. </li><li>Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations. </li></ul> <p>Highly Desirable</p> <ul> <li>Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop </li><li>Experience with ESRI Parcel Fabric </li><li>Title research and/or Survey experience and the ability to read and interpret legal descriptions on various legal documents including deeds, plats and surveys. </li><li>Experience using the Public Land Survey System as it relates to real property in Florida </li><li>Excellent business/professional writing skills using MS Word. </li><li>Experience in a leadership, team lead or project lead role. </li><li>Experience using geometry and trigonometry </li></ul> <p>Our benefits rank among the top in the area!</p> <ul> <li>Looking for a strong retirement?
