<p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Mammography Technologist:</p> <ul> <li>Administers ionizing radiation when performing screening and/or diagnostic mammograms according to established protocols. </li><li>Demonstrates an understanding of breast anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology as they relate to the procedure. </li><li>Maintains a high degree of accuracy in breast positioning, exposure techniques, and subsequent evaluation of imaging parameters to optimize patient imaging and care while adhering to radiation protection and safety standards. </li><li>Integrates technical skills, patient interaction, and care to obtain viable diagnostic information as ordered by the physician. </li><li>Utilizes independent professional judgment and critical thinking to obtain the resultant diagnostic information when possible and seeks direction from a MQSA qualified interpreting physician or lawful institutional policies (or standards of care) to continue or discontinue the exam.
