Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.</p> <p>Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum</p> <p>$59,758.00 - $68,681.00 - $81,224.00</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>Schedule: Fulltime; 40hrs</p> <p>The Interfaith Chaplain functions as team member of Spiritual Services and provides spiritual and religious care to patients, families and staff of all faith and no recognized faith tradition in all inpatient areas and the emergency department. the interfaith chaplain conducts spiritual assessments on the spiritual, emotional and religious needs in situations such as end of life, trauma, moral distress, urgent questions of meaning and value. The interfaith chaplain provides support and in collaboration with the volunteer deparment will assist in coordinating the work of the chaplain volunteers.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <p>1) The Interfaith Chaplain will assess the spiritual, emotional and religious needs of patients, families and staff in all inpatient areas and the Emergency Department of Baystate Medical Center. Effective interventions addressing the needs of the patients, families and staff are expected to be implemented. Staff support includes debriefings, services of remembrance and other supportive events as appropriate.</p> <p>2) Provides spiritual and religious resources such as prayer, blessings and rituals appropriate to the spiritual and religious practice of the persons cared for.</p> <p>3) Communicates effectively with the health care team and the department team to collaborate in the efforts to provide patient-family centerd care with compassion and competence.</p> <p>4) Documents all patient encounters in the electronic heath record using the spiritual care assessment form and will log provided spiritual care in the departmental on call log book.</p> <p>5) Functions as bereavement support person to provide appropriate, professional and compassionate bereavement support including the use of rituals such as handprints, lock of hair and other personalized interventions and the distribution of bereavement support material to the family. Will follow the bereavement care policy CO92</p> <p>6) Upon request by the manager of the department, the Interfaith Chaplain will participate in orienting Clinical Pastoral Education students to designated inpatient care areas at Baystate and to the Emergency department. Will function as spiritual care mentor to the students.</p> <p>7) Facilitates viewings for decedants in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Supervisor and the health care team following the policy on Viewing Decedants in the Morgue CO 9.306.</p> <p>8) Will collaborate with other members of the Spiritual Services department to orient, coordinate and support the work of volunteers assigned to the department.</p> <p>Participates in departmental staff meetings, special projects and the overall life of the department.</p> <p>9) Provides spiritual care through establishing helpful pastoral relationships, crisist intervention, non-anxious presence in traumatic situation, offers guided imagery appropriately and short term counseling interventions.</p> <p>10) Interfaith Chaplain will provide spiritual leadership in assigned clinical areas including and not limited to offering healing rituals and memorial services for staff as appropriate. Collaborates with nursing manager.</p> <p>11) Interfaith Chaplain provides educational sessions for clinical staff and upon request in the community mostly on matters related to spirituality and health care.</p> <p>Required Work Experience:</p> <p>1) CPE at least 2 units</p> <p>Preferred Work Experience:</p> <p>1) 4 units of CPE, 2 years of professional ministy in congregation or institutional setting</p> <p>Skills and Competencies:</p> <p>1) Empathetic reflective listening, computer skills as needed in the clinical environment, spiritual care assessment skills, collaborative communication,able to be productive during late night, early monirng shifts, public speaking skills, ability to work in a team</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>Bachelors Degree (Required)</p> <p>Certifications:</p> <p>Board Certified Chaplain - OtherOtherOther</p> <p>Equal Employment Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Baystate Health is an Equal Opportunity employer.
