<p>Department of Athletics</p> <p>Head Coach for Women's Volleyball</p> <p>Part-Time, Seasonal (2025-26)</p> <p>Cairn University's Department of Athletics is seeking to fill the part-time seasonal position of Head Coach for Volleyball . Cairn University is a NCAA Division III school and participates in the United East Conference.</p> <p>Department Purpose</p> <p>The purpose of the Department of Athletics at Cairn University is to provide NCAA division III sports which allow our student athletes to honor God by growing through integrity, humility, and discipline in pursuit of athletic excellence. Cairn's teams are built in a competitive environment and led by coaches who desire that their team learns to exemplify the walk and life of the Christian faith and recognize that sports provide a tremendous training for life and service. Cairn seeks to develop student athletes that are willing to stand for Christ, serve with humility, lead with dignity, pursue knowledge and excellence while being able to handle adversity.</p> <p>Cairn is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).</p> <p>All Department of Athletics personnel have ministerial responsibilities to integrate spiritual development into their leadership, coaching, and support for student athletes. For coaches and staff, this takes the form of prayer, Bible study, and encouragement of students' spiritual discipline alongside the physical and mental discipline which characterizes an athletics program.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Head coaches for all intercollegiate teams have primary responsibilities for recruiting and retention of players to meet roster requirements, and the skill development and preparation of those team members for successful competition. Head coaches organize practice schedules, provide oversight to assistant coaches, and coordinate a variety of schedules and services with others assisting in the team's activities. Head coaches provide mentoring to their student athletes, and perform a variety of duties to support the overall success of the Athletics programs, and represent Cairn University well.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Recruiting</p> <ul> <li>Represent the Athletics Department at Admissions Open Houses and/or involvement in other pertinent recruiting events such as prospective athlete scheduled visits and overnight stays. </li><li>Communicate effectively with Admissions and Recruitment personnel in tracking student athletes throughout the enrollment process. </li><li>Scout and recruit prospective student athletes. </li></ul> <p>Coaching</p> <ul> <li>Attend Athletic Department meeting and training sessions </li><li>Adhere to regulations as set forth in the Athletic Department handbook, University policies, league, and Title IX requirements. </li><li>Assist in the process of certifying and maintaining athlete eligibility </li><li>Attend Athletic Conference coaching calls and complete nominations and voting in a timely manner. </li><li>Cooperate in the enforcement of facility rules, regulations, and clean-up. </li><li>Demonstrate deep knowledge and understanding of the sport. </li><li>Focus on teaching individual skill development and technique throughout the season. </li><li>Plan, organize and design effective practices to improve athletes' individual skill and knowledge of the game. Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of appropriate techniques, training, conditioning, and skill necessary to perform in the sport. </li><li>Design and implement off-season training program. </li><li>Focus on teaching and developing game strategy. </li><li>Attend and direct the varsity team in all intercollegiate practices and contests. </li><li>Provide positive feedback and constructive criticism to athletes to improve individual performance. </li></ul> <p>Mentoring</p> <ul> <li>Create a Christ-centered team community by focusing on athletes' spiritual growth and maturity. </li><li>Promote the ideals of Christian sportsmanship in all phases of conducting an intercollegiate athletic program reflective of a Biblical University. </li><li>Establish appropriate and effective mentoring relationships with student athletes. </li></ul> <p>Fund-Raising</p> <ul> <li>Support Athletic Department fund-raising projects. </li></ul> <p>Retention</p> <ul> <li>Maintain and support Student-Athletes in the program. </li></ul> <p>Maintaining the Roster</p> <ul> <li>Attract and recruit Student-Athletes to maintain a full roster. </li></ul> <p>Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Evaluate, select, and supervise assistant coach(es) who are part of the program. </li><li>Assist the Director of Athletics in evaluating programs, personnel, and facilities. </li><li>Take necessary steps to guard against activities and behavior that could be viewed as hazing, unethical, or discriminatory. </li><li>Demonstrate professionalism through good communication, organization, and personal conduct. </li><li>Consult with the Director of Athletics with regard to student athlete disciplinary issues, and assist with implementation of sanctions commensurate with respective violations and in accordance with established guidelines and regulations. </li></ul> <p>Organization</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate practice and game schedules, travel plans, and uniform inventory. Examples include: Collection of receipts; vehicle return; orders for bag meals; equipment return. </li><li>Manage and control financial responsibilities of your sport in accordance with institutional and departmental policies. Examples include: adhere to specific food budget; properly submit receipts; obtain approval for equipment purchase. </li><li>Cooperate with the Athletic Trainer in managing athlete's health and preparation for practice and competition. </li><li>Communicate effectively with the Sports Information Director about roster, schedule, statistics, special interest stories, award nominations, and website interests or concerns. </li><li>Inventory athletic equipment and identify needs at the start and end of every season. </li></ul> <p>Other</p> <ul> <li>Participate in departmental meetings. </li><li>Participate in University meetings as requested. </li><li>Perform other departmental duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Excellent writing skills, experience in writing logical, detailed and analytical reports. </li><li>Good oral and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with donors. </li><li>Demonstrated abilities in planning, organizing and time management. </li><li>Ability to work independently, handle multiple assignments, work under pressure and meet deadlines. </li><li>Demonstrated abilities in supervising, training and motivating student workers. </li></ul> <p>Required Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. </li></ul> <p>Serving at Cairn University</p> <p>Located in Langhorne, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Cairn University exists to educate students to serve Christ in the church, society, and the world as biblically minded, well-educated and professionally competent men and women of character.
