<p>The Recreational Leader Senior is a full-time, Civil Service position located with Metro Parks & Recreation. This position is responsible for planning, directing, organizing and conducting a variety of special events, programs, projects and recreational activities in a community center setting.</p> <p>Metro's Parks and Recreation Department has something for everyone through its variety of strategically placed facilities and programs. Parks offers cultural arts and fitness classes, dog parks and nature programs and 16,000 acres of open space, including 121 parks and 19 greenways. Ice hockey, sports leagues, art galleries and much more are among the offerings. An active and fun place where there is always something going on, Parks might be just the place for you.</p> <ul> <li>Oversee special projects for the Community Recreation division. </li><li>Evaluate programs. </li><li>Assist in budget preparation and administration; prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations; monitor and control expenditures. </li><li>Recommend and implement creative programs based on new developments in the recreation field. </li><li>Assist with planning and implementation of large departmental activities, events, etc. </li><li>Maintain personnel records. </li><li>In the absence of the supervisor, act at his/her direction to oversee the program. </li><li>Supervise work assignments of employees. </li><li>Assist as needed at multiple locations in the absence of a supervisor. </li><li>Lead, participate in and oversee a variety of recreational and sports activities in an assigned location. </li><li>Supervise patrons and maintains order and discipline. </li><li>Transport groups to various outings and sports activities. </li><li>Provide feedback to the supervisor regarding program development. </li><li>Observe necessary precautions to ensure the safety of recreation participants and spectators.  </li><li>Attend mandatory in-service training and meetings. </li></ul> <p>High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years experience leading, organizing, coaching or supervising various recreational or sports activities.</p> <p> </p> <p>OR</p> <p> </p> <p>(2) years of college credit in physical education, recreation or a related field from an accredited college or university and 1 year of leading, coaching or supervising various recreational or sports activities.</p> <p> </p> <p>Successful candidates will have a high degree of self-motivation and organizing skills.</p> <p>LICENSES REQUIRED</p> <p>Valid Driver License</p> <p>Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078.
