<p>Lead Local Scout</p> <p>Location: Knighthead Performance Centre</p> <p>Contract: Part-Time | Flexible Hours (Primarily Weekends and Midweek Fixtures)</p> <p>Reports to: Local Emerging Talent Manager</p> <p>To lead a team of Local Scouts within a designated area on behalf of the Academy Emerging Talent Department, supporting the identification and recruitment of emerging talent within a 90-minute radius of the Knighthead Performance Centre (B38 9EL).</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead and coordinate Local Scouts within your designated zone, as allocated by the Local Emerging Talent Manager.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage weekly planning, communication, and reporting processes for Local Scouts in your area.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct appraisals and provide regular feedback and support to Local Scouts.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend and scout grassroots and academy fixtures during weekends and selected midweek evenings.</p> </li><li> <p>Focus specifically on youth leagues and the Academy games programme, including the Youth Development Phase and Professional Development Phase.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the monitoring and assessment of Birmingham City loan players when required.</p> </li><li> <p>Work closely with the Local Emerging Talent Manager and Local Emerging Talent Coordinator to ensure a competitive and productive recruitment process in your region.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct live and video-based scouting and submit detailed player reports via the relevant platforms.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow the Club's Scouts Code of Conduct and ensure all work is in line with FA and EPPP regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively recruit across all development phases, aligned to the Emerging Talent strategy, succession plans and positional needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and maintain strong working relationships with grassroots clubs, private coaching organisations, schools, districts, and counties.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend and report on academy fixtures, grassroots games, school matches, and coaching sessions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure all reporting documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.</p> </li><li> <p>Support Emerging Talent events, including Talent ID festivals, trials, and open days.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend monthly meetings with the Local Emerging Talent Manager to discuss department updates, strategy, and recruitment needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Undertake any other duties within the scope of the post, as requested by the Academy Technical Director, Local Emerging Talent Manager, or Lead Local Scout.</p> </li></ul> <p>Key Relationships</p> <ul> <li> <p>Local Emerging Talent Manager</p> </li><li> <p>Academy Technical Director</p> </li><li> <p>Local Scouts</p> </li><li> <p>Local Emerging Talent Coordinator</p> </li><li> <p>All Emerging Talent Staff</p> </li><li> <p>Wider Academy Staff (including MDT, support, and site staff)</p> </li></ul> <p>What we're looking for in you:</p> <p>Essential Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>FA Level 2 Talent ID</p> </li><li> <p>FA Safeguarding</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Driving Licence</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent computer literacy</p> </li><li> <p>High attention to detail and organisation</p> </li><li> <p>Strong verbal and written communication skills</p> </li><li> <p>Leadership and team management experience</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding of EPPP and Foundation Phase development</p> </li></ul> <p>Desirable Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>FA Level 3 Talent ID</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to contribute to internal and external networks</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in a Category One academy</p> </li><li> <p>Audit experience</p> </li></ul> <p>Equality, Diversity & Safeguarding</p> <p>Birmingham City FC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
