<p>Description</p> <p>The City of Danbury is now hiring Security Guards for the Summer 2026 season.</p> <p>The City of Danbury is seeking Seasonal Security Guards to work at Candlewood Town Park during the summer season.</p> <p>Security Guards are responsible for helping maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for park visitors, staff, and facilities. The position involves monitoring park activity, enforcing park rules and regulations, assisting visitors, and responding to incidents or safety concerns when necessary.</p> <p>Security staff must demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm while addressing conflicts or unexpected situations.</p> <p>Important Schedule Requirement</p> <p>This position has a very specific and limited work schedule.</p> <p>Employment runs Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.</p> <p>The primary schedule is:</p> <p>Fridays and Saturdays</p> <p>11:00 AM - 7:30 PM</p> <p>Applicants should only apply if they are available to consistently work this schedule throughout the entire summer season.</p> <p>Additional hours may occasionally be available depending on park operations.</p> <p>Additional Work Assignment (If Needed)</p> <p>Employees may also be assigned to support the City of Danbury Summer Camp program, if needed, located at Rogers Park Middle School.</p> <p>This assignment would take place:</p> <ul> <li>July 6 through August 7 </li><li>Monday through Friday / 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM </li></ul> <p>While this is not the primary assignment, candidates should be available for this schedule if requested based on operational needs.</p> <p>Primary Work Location: Candlewood Town Park remains the main job location for this position.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Patrol Candlewood Town Park grounds to ensure visitor safety and compliance with park rules. </li><li>Monitor park activity and observe for suspicious behavior, safety hazards, or violations of park policies. </li><li>Enforce park rules and regulations and assist in maintaining a safe and orderly park environment. </li><li>Direct individuals to comply with park policies or leave park property when necessary, in coordination with park management and local law enforcement when appropriate. </li><li>Provide information and assistance to park visitors in a courteous and professional manner. </li><li>Respond appropriately to disturbances, incidents, or emergencies within the park. </li><li>Prepare basic incident reports regarding security-related concerns when necessary. </li><li>Coordinate with Gate Attendants and park staff regarding visitor entry issues, rule violations, or safety concerns. </li><li>Communicate with local law enforcement or emergency services when required. </li></ul> <p>Security personnel operate in an observe and report capacity and are responsible for promptly communicating issues to park management or law enforcement when appropriate.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Must be at least 18 years of age. </li><li>Ability to remain professional and calm when handling difficult or confrontational situations. </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. </li><li>Ability to stand, walk, and patrol park grounds for extended periods of time. </li><li>Reliable attendance and strong situational awareness. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Possession of a Connecticut Security Guard License. </li><li>Previous experience in security, law enforcement support, or public safety roles. </li></ul> <p>Application Information</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>Application Submission:Applications must be submitted online at www.danbury-ct.gov/employment.
