<p>First Review Date: May 26th, 2025</p> <p>Starting Salary: $40,290.00</p> <p>Full-Time, Benefitted, Non-Exempt</p> <p>Ideal candidates will be highly motivated and eager to put their skills to use in a safe and efficient manner while providing excellent customer service.</p> <p>A Landfill Equipment Operator I will operate heavy equipment and trucks, perform manual labor, and assist at the scale house. Will process recycling (single stream, glass, metal, tires, e-waste, etc.) and trash, perform litter collection, assist with composting, and other duties as needed in all types of weather. May assist collection staff from time to time.</p> <p>MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Operate Hook Lift trucks, roll-off trucks and operate heavy equipment. </li><li>Maintenance and repair of fencing, etc. </li><li>Maintain records and logs; complete reports as necessary. </li><li>Observe safety precautions while operating large vehicles and equipment. </li><li>Inspect and review condition of equipment including checking fluid levels, brakes and lights; washing, cleaning, and performing maintenance to equipment; filling and greasing vehicles; draining air tanks. Assist mechanic when needed. </li><li>May be required to work Holidays and/or weekends on occasion. </li><li>Perform other duties as required. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS (A combination of the following experience and training, or the equivalent of, would be qualifying):</p> <ul> <li>Possession of a Class B commercial driver's license (CDL), or the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months of hire, with a preference for having a tanker endorsement. </li><li>Some experience in heavy truck and/or equipment operation. </li></ul> <p>Special Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 75 pounds; exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining workspace, mechanical hazards, dust, and other allergens; ability to travel to different sites and locations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.</p> <p>Applicants who are offered an appointment are required to pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug & alcohol screening test and driver license check.</p> <p>The City of Laramie is an EEO/ADA employer and a smoke-free workplace per City ordinance.</p>
