We are dedicated to protecting the state of South Carolina and we would love to have you as a member of our team!</p> <p>Science | Service | Sustainability</p> <p>Protect South Carolina's Water Quality While Using Your Technical Expertise</p> <p>Join our Industrial Wastewater Permitting team in the Bureau of Water and and use your science and technical skills to protect our state's waterways. You'll evaluate industrial wastewater facility operations, review technical documents, and develop permit requirements that help ensure safe and compliant discharges. Your work will directly benefit public health, environmental quality, and the citizens of South Carolina.</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <ul> <li>Develop and issue National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and No Discharge (ND) permit conditions for industrial wastewater discharges. </li><li>Review closure plans for industrial wastewater facilities to ensure compliance with state regulations. </li><li>Determine General Permit coverage for qualifying discharges. </li><li>Collaborate with industry representatives, consulting engineers, and internal staff to develop clear and enforceable permit conditions. </li><li>Interpret and apply applicable regulations, policies, and technical guidance. </li><li>Provide technical information to the public, regulated facilities, and consulting engineers. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and supervisor. </li></ul> <p>What We're Looking For</p> <ul> <li>Ability to review, interpret and apply environmental regulations, policies, and guidance. </li><li>Strong communication skills for working with diverse stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>You must meet one of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in natural/physical sciences or related technical field + 1 year of environmental health/related experience </li><li>Bachelor's degree in natural/physical sciences or related technical field + 2 years of environmental health/related experience </li><li>Associate degree in natural/physical sciences or related technical field + 4 years of environmental health/related experience </li><li>High school diploma + 6 years of environmental health/related experience </li></ul> <p>Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.</p> <p>Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application are encouraged to upload an unofficial copy of the transcript as an attachment to the application.
