<p>Description</p> <p>This position requires the ability to coordinate and safely conduct field visits at a person's home, work, or elsewhere. This Officer will supervise a reduced caseload comprised of exits from the Sex Offender and High-Risk Specialized Caseloads (felony and misdemeanor). Flexibility, a working knowledge of the courts and the ability to multi-task are important aspects of this position.</p> <p>Example of Duties</p> <p>The duties include but are not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct field visits at homes, businesses or elsewhere of persons on supervision. </li><li>Effectively prioritize persons placed on specialized caseloads, specialty court programs, or according to risk/need, for needed field visits. </li><li>Clearly and concisely document observations and violations in the case notes within standard time frames. </li><li>Communicate with courts, sheriff's office, DAs office, attorneys, treatment providers, supervisors, CSOs, and the community. </li><li>Correspond as required with courts, Sheriff, D.A., attorneys, other county departments, and the community. </li><li>Review case files prior to visits. </li><li>Qualify annually with a handgun in the presence of a TCOLE instructor. </li><li>Participate in additional training conducted with law enforcement agencies. </li><li>Meet Texas Department of Public Safety physical fitness guidelines, or, alternatively, demonstrate the ability to run two miles in less than twenty minutes. </li><li>Any additional duties assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>This individual must meet the state-mandated qualifications for a community supervision officer and be able to communicate effectively with departmental and court-related personnel as well as with outside service agencies. A documented history of training focusing on criminogenic issues, substance abuse, factors relating to recidivism, and/or the willingness to obtain the necessary training. In addition, this individual must meet the state mandated qualifications to carry a handgun and demonstrate safe firearm handling as well as sound judgment in potentially tense, rapidly changing situations. This individual must be knowledgeable about community resources which are available and the referral process. This individual will be required to attend the Sex Offender and Static 99 trainings along with sex offender staffing's with treatment providers.</p> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Beginning salary is $53,377 plus annual stipend, negotiable depending on experience and credentials.</p> <p>The required work hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with alternating late night of 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. as scheduled on Tuesday or Thursday.</p>
