<p>Overview</p> <p>The Director is a senior member of the Planned Giving team responsible for achieving annual revenue targets of $20M+ in new and realized commitments each year, in addition to assisting the entire Division with reaching financial goals. Reporting to the Senior Director, the Director will work with the Assistant Vice President of Planned Giving to set annual goals, objectives, operating plan, and budget. The majority of the Director's time will be spent managing the estate administration program which accounts for the majority of the realized planned giving revenue.</p> <p>The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process which includes completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands-on learning experiences.</p> <p>Embody Dana-Farber's Core Values: Impact; Excellence; Compassion & Respect; Discovery; and Equity and Inclusion every day. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Manage highly confidential financial and personal disclosures and ensure discretion for all Planned Giving (PG) donors and prospects. </li><li>Work with various attorneys, personal representatives, and financial advisors on the receipt of 150+ estate gifts each year. </li><li>Possess the ability to evaluate and close complex gift arrangements. </li><li>Respond to inquiries from donors, estate representatives, and colleagues regarding legal issues surrounding bequests/trusts; in addition, provide bequest language and recognition options to donors/prospects/advisors as needed. </li><li>Serve as liaison to Legal Department regarding estate matters; work with Legal staff and/or outside counsel on problematic and/or complex gifts. </li><li>Work with Assistant to actively administer estate gifts to ensure that Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund receives the full value of the bequest and trust gifts to which it is entitled. Ensure current, future, and ongoing gifts are properly tracked in ClearView database. </li><li>Collaborate with Principal Gifts, Major Gifts, and Donor Engagement & Experience colleagues when administering estate gifts to establish current-use funds, endowed funds and other naming opportunities, and produce the proper acknowledgement and recognition. </li><li>Develop customized stewardship plans for $1M+ estate gifts, ensuring surviving heirs and/or estate representatives receive appropriate engagement opportunities and information. </li><li>Track future expected value pipeline on a regular basis; work with Assistant to produce monthly, quarterly and yearly analysis of revenue and expectancies. </li><li>Assist the Assistant Vice President in tracking and estimating the value of the bequest pipeline of gifts to set yearly goals. </li><li>Manage Assistant; assist with education and mentorship of entire PG team and Division, as appropriate. </li><li>Responsible for assisting the entire Division in reaching financial goals. </li><li>Support and foster a culture of learning, improvement and collaboration among the Planned Giving team and Division of Philanthropy. </li><li>Travel as appropriate to meet with prospects and donors </li><li>Foster a collaborative, inclusive, improvement and results-oriented team culture </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Shared supervision of one Assistant.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalency required; Bachelor's degree preferred. 8+ years' relevant work experience necessary; legal and financial experience preferred.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:</p> <p>Successful track record of handling estate administration and dealing with external constituents to accept and honor decedent's gift. Possess knowledge of Planned Giving vehicles, IRS regulations, and estate planning and investment strategies. Demonstrated success in donor relations; strong organizational skills and detail management; excellent oral presentation and written communication skills; and the ability to work with a variety of constituencies and Institute staff. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. Ability to work closely with legal professionals and with complicated instruments.
