<p>Nature of Work</p> <p>Overview:</p> <p>Join a dynamic team dedicated to protecting public health and the environment. Under direct supervision, this entry-level position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental and public health sanitation at the entry-level. You'll develop the skills needed to conduct inspections, investigations, evaluations, and public education across a variety of environmental health areas.</p> <p>Representative Responsibilities:</p> <p>As a trainee, you may learn to:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Conduct inspections of food service establishments, hotels, swimming pools, schools, and other regulated facilities to ensure compliance with health regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluate applications and perform site assessments for water wells and private sewage disposal systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Inspect private sewage installations and respond to related complaints.</p> </li><li> <p>Investigate nuisance complaints, disaster sanitation issues, insect/vector problems, rabies exposures, and infectious medical waste handling.</p> </li><li> <p>Collect and analyze water, ice, and food samples.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend ongoing training sessions, workshops, and meetings on environmental and public health sanitation topics.</p> </li></ul> <p>Ideal Candidate Will Have:</p> <ul> <li> <p>A strong interest in environmental and public health.</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to learn and apply complex regulations and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication skills-both verbal and written.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, local officials, and the public.</p> </li><li> <p>Flexibility to travel frequently as part of the job.</p> </li></ul> <p>Why Join Us?</p> <p>This is an exciting opportunity to launch your career in public health while making a real difference in your community. Must possess a valid driver's license. Availability of an automobile for continuous use may be a requisite for employment.</p> <ul> <li>Your complete work history is needed to qualify you for positions.
