<p>Assistant Superintendent for Middle Schools</p> <p>JOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 06/05/2025 CLOSING DATE: 06/18/2025 04:00 PM POSTING NUMBER: 050113 LOCATION: Admin Deputy Superintendent - 711 POSITION TITLE: Assistant Superintendent for Middle Schools</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>Evaluate and provide leadership for the middle school instructional program of the District and middle school programs.</p> <p>DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the direct line of communication between the middle school administrators and the Deputy Superintendent of Schools. </li><li>Hold regular meetings with middle school administrators to ensure clarifications of district, state, and federal guidelines and policies. </li><li>Work with other central office personnel as their areas relate to middle school including student performance and dropout prevention. </li><li>Forecast personnel needs for middle schools. </li><li>Coordinate personnel needs monitoring systems that prioritize effective and well-supported teachers. </li><li>Approve student fund raising activities. </li><li>Work for a high degree of uniformity among the middle schools in curricular and extra-curricular activities. </li><li>Work with intermediate and junior high school principals to ensure that students have rigorous learning experiences. </li><li>Oversee the preparation and revision of handbooks needed in the operation of middle schools. </li><li>Evaluate all middle school principals and recommend to the Superintendent their continued contract status. </li><li>Participate in the interview and recommendation process for hiring middle school principals. </li><li>Coordinate the student teacher program and the administrative intern program jointly with the Assistant Superintendent for Elementary School and the Assistant Superintendent for High School. </li><li>Work with the Assistant Superintendent for Elementary School, Assistant Superintendent for High School, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Staff Development, Directors, and District Coordinators in the development and administration of the District's in-service program. </li><li>Work with the Assistant Superintendent for Elementary School and the Assistant Superintendent for High School in developing a seamless K-12 transition as evidenced by participation in advanced academic programs. </li><li>Ensure a high-quality curriculum is in place and keep abreast of current research and curriculum development in middle school instructional strategies. </li><li>Supervise District-wide instructional administrators and coordinators. </li><li>Recommend and develop strong middle school campus level leadership personnel and procedures. </li><li>Coordinate in-service and staff development program. </li><li>Approve middle school instructional materials, supplies, and equipment. </li><li>Oversee middle school special education services. </li><li>Approve guidance and middle school instruction budget. </li><li>Recommend middle school curriculum and instruction budget. </li><li>Oversee middle school library and media services. </li><li>Oversee middle school co-curricular activities. </li><li>Develop and recommend five-year plan and other long-range projections for middle school programs. </li><li>Support the development of strong campus cultures. </li><li>Coordinate middle school student assessment programs. </li><li>Oversee the middle school summer school programs. </li><li>Coordinate middle school student assessment programs. </li><li>Oversee the junior high athletic program, fine arts program, guidance and counseling program, and the career and technical education program. </li><li>Maintain confidentiality. </li><li>Maintain regular attendance. </li><li>Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. </li></ul> <p>EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Three years of successful teaching experience </li><li>Three years of successful experience as middle school principal </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Education/Certification:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree </li><li>Instructional Leadership Training (ILT) or Advancing Educational Leadership (AEL) </li><li>Valid Texas administrator's certification </li><li>District approved teacher appraisal system </li></ul> <p>Special Knowledge/Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills </li><li>Effective "people skills" </li><li>Effective leadership skills </li><li>Ability to manage strategic change for the organization </li></ul> <p>CONTACT INFORMATION:</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise and evaluate performance of middle school principals, directors, curriculum coordinators, supervisors, and support staff in the curriculum department.</p> <p>Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress.
