Here is some of what you can expect from being a Pathology Laboratory Assistant with us: You will ensure complete and accurate Accessioning of surgical specimens and numeric sequencing and labeling of appropriate amounts of cassettes. You will ensure accurate filing and pulling of Histology blocks and slides, and log cases for send-outs, conferences, etc. You will accurately label slides and match reports for the pathologist. You will maintain archival filing, labeling, and moving blocks, slides, and tissue. You will maintain a working knowledge of routine maintenance on the H&E Stainer and the Tissue Processors and take temperatures on all the necessary equipment. You will be putting supplies away when they arrive and writing received dates on all incoming supplies. You will keep the work area clean and answer phones as required. You will assist Histologists and Pathologists as needed. Qualifications you will need for this role: High School diploma or equivalent One year of experience in a medical laboratory is preferred. Knowledge in handling chemical and biohazardous materials Basic Knowledge of Biology and Medical Terminology. Knowledge of handling chemicals and Biohazardous Materials. Skill in communication and collaborating both orally and in writing. Skill in effectively working with all levels of the organization. Ability to effectively solve issues. Ability to work independently or in small or large groups. Ability to maintain the necessary level of confidentiality to protect patient privacy and proprietary information.
