<p>This position serves as a specialized Accounting Technician within the Remittance Processing and Other Accounts Receivable Branch of the Office of the Controller (OoC). The role provides technical accounting support across multiple divisions, involving billing and collection functions for ten divisions of DHHS, including Central Administration. Responsibilities include maintaining daily cash receipt records, reconciling accounts, processing payments through various accounting systems, and managing the accounts receivable workflow.</p> <p>The position supports timely and accurate financial operations by ensuring compliance with departmental and federal financial standards. It contributes to broader fiscal operations through daily reconciliation activities, maintaining audit-ready records, and assisting with reports required by the DHHS Controller's Office and oversight agencies.</p> <p>Key Duties Include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Perform billing and collection for multiple DHHS divisions, including follow-up actions for delinquent accounts.</p> </li><li> <p>Reconcile daily and monthly transactions using NCAS General Ledger and Business Works sub-systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain receipt logs and distribute daily coding to ensure deposit accuracy.</p> </li><li> <p>Process adjustments, penalties, and finance charges as part of cash management operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate with external agencies, including DOJ, collection agencies, and DOR Debt Setoff Program for unresolved accounts.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in maintaining subsystem data, including PayPoint uploads and demographic updates.</p> </li><li> <p>Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers regarding receivables and account status.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the supervisor with ad hoc financial reports and data for audits or analysis.</p> </li><li> <p>Track account-level information to support annual financial statement accuracy.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned in support of division accounting operations.</p> </li></ul> <p>About the NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS):</p> <p>The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees.
