<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Athletics/Softball, Assistant Coach, High School</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>2/27/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>New London High School Multi Magnet Campus</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <ul> <li>Reports To: Director of Athletics </li><li>Performance Evaluation: Director of Athletics </li><li>Terms of Employment: Spring Season </li><li>Primary Function: New London High School Athletics Department is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated High School Softball Assistant Coach to support our Softball program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for softball and a commitment to fostering the athletic and personal development of student-athletes. The assistant coach will be responsible for supporting the head coach in planning and executing practices, organizing competitions, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork. </li></ul> <p>Typical Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Program Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the softball team, including daily practices, conditioning, and skill development. </li><li>Team Development: Coach and mentor student-athletes, focusing on both individual and team skills. Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude. </li><li>Competition Preparation: Prepare the team for games and tournaments, including strategic planning, match preparation, and in-game coaching. </li><li>Recruitment and Retention: Work with school administration to recruit and retain student-athletes for the softball program. </li><li>Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with athletes, parents, and school administration. Provide regular updates on team progress, schedule changes, and other relevant information. </li><li>Compliance: Ensure compliance with school policies, league regulations, and safety protocols. Keep accurate records of practices, matches, and player performance. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Certification: Must hold a valid State of Connecticut Coaching Certification. First Aid, CPR, and Concussion Certification are required. </li><li>Experience: Previous coaching experience in softball, preferably at the high school or collegiate level, is highly desirable. </li><li>Skills: Strong knowledge of softball techniques, strategies, and rules. Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and develop players. </li><li>Personal Attributes: Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for performing the responsibilities of the position. Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes while promoting sportsmanship and teamwork. </li><li>Additional Requirements: Must pass a background check and meet any additional requirements set by the school or district. </li><li>Working Conditions: </li><li>This is a part-time, seasonal position typically involving after-school hours and weekends for practices and matches. </li><li>Must be able to work in various weather conditions and maintain a flexible schedule. </li></ul> <p>New London Public School District is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
