<p>The Video Computer Vision organization is working on breakthrough technologies for future Apple products. Our team delivers cutting-edge AI, machine learning, computer vision and graphics algorithms that power technologies including human understanding, perception, digital humans, AI agents, and health applications. In this role, you will collaborate with world-class experts in AI, ML, Software, and Hardware to tackle fundamental challenges in human-centric solutions that will impact millions of users across Apple's ecosystem.</p> <p>We are looking for an experienced engineering leader to manage a team of AIML engineers focused on developing foundation models for generative AI and multimodal systems that integrate various types of real-time sensor data such as video and audio with other modalities like text. You will set the technical vision and strategy for the team, drive execution on cutting-edge research projects and ensure the successful delivery of practical features into Apple products. You will partner with cross-functional leaders across software, hardware, design and product to define roadmaps, align on data requirements, validation strategies, key performance indicators and shape the direction of human perception technologies at Apple. A successful candidate combines deep technical expertise in AI, machine learning and computer vision with proven people leadership skills. You will be responsible for hiring and developing top talent, fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture, mentoring engineers across all career stages and creating an environment where diverse perspectives drive innovation. You balance long-term research investments with pragmatic engineering execution and lead by example with a hands-on approach when needed.</p> <p>MS or PhD in computer vision, computer graphics, machine learning, computer science, computer engineering or related fields. Experience leading teams developing, training and tuning foundation models and multimodal LLMs. Familiarity with training generative architectures such as diffusion, reinforcement learning, flow matching or normalizing flow at scale. Experience setting technical strategy and roadmaps spanning research and productization. Demonstrated ability to recruit, grow and retain a diverse and high-performing engineering team. Excellent communication skills and experience partnering with multi-functional teams and senior stakeholders. Track record of mentoring engineers and supporting their career development. Self-motivated leader who can prioritize across competing demands and deliver on schedule. Self-motivated with proven track record to optimally prioritize and deliver tasks on schedule.</p> <p>BS and a minimum of 20 years of relevant industry experience, including 3+ years in a technical leadership or management role. Experience leading and managing teams of ML engineers or researchers. Strong technical background in building models for multimodal perception systems. Experience working with LLMs and VLMs. Proven track record of shipping ML-powered features or products at scale. Software engineering fundamentals and proficiency in Python and PyTorch.</p>
