Oversees and directs the surgical schedule/surgery tracker board. Creates daily staff assignments accordingly. Coordinates all changes in the surgical schedule with appropriate departments (SPD, ASU, anesthesia, surgeons, vendors, PACU, and surgical staff). Ensures all surgical staff have had appropriate morning and lunch breaks (scrub techs, nurses, and surgical assistants) Responsible for at least 2 days of assigned patient care as needed. Completes daily logs (crash cart, equipment, temperature, etc.) ensuring unit compliance with regulatory requirements. Serves as a resource to subordinate nursing staff for problem solving and decision making. Develop and maintain physician relationships. Acts as clinical resource to staff and leadership for surgical patients and procedures. Assists with new staff orientation and ongoing education for current staff. Assists in maintaining preference cards for surgical procedures and surgeons. Reviews supply, implant and special ordering needs for upcoming procedures. # # Related Qualifications Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing Associates in Nursing; Bachelors preferred. Current IL State RN licensure and CPR Certification Team and customer service skills Computer skills - windows and database systems Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills ACLS, NRP, PALS, EKG monitoring, arrhythmia interpretation, airway and ventilator management as required per department.
