<p>Potawatomi Zoo</p> <p>Membership Coordinator</p> <p>Position Description:</p> <p>Reporting to the Director of Development, the Potawatomi Zoo is seeking a Membership Coordinator to be responsible for the strategic planning and daily management of the Zoo's membership program. This position is responsible for the retention of current members and acquisition of new members as well as supporting functions of the development department as needed. Prepares and monitors membership budget; promotes the Zoo and its mission. Works with the larger development team to ensure all current and potential members and donors are properly stewarded, striving to create a healthy pipeline of supporters for continued growth of the Zoo.</p> <p>The Potawatomi Zoo is currently under a revitalization period with tremendous growth. This is an exciting, newly created position that focuses specifically on the Zoo's membership program and developing new donors. This multifaceted position is unique in that it requires many different skills ranging from fostering donor and membership relationships to the important administrative functions required to enter membership data and mailing cards. The expectation of this individual would be to elevate our current membership program to a level that matches a modern zoo of our size.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Manage day-to-day functioning of a high volume, income generating department. </li><li>Grow revenue from membership renewals, upgrade and acquisition campaigns. </li><li>Process all new, renewal and special membership applications; enter information into donor management software (Altru), prepare and print membership cards and prepare membership package envelopes for mailing. This includes mail, on-sight, and online sales. </li><li>Coordinate with the Director of Guest Experience to ensure front line staff are properly trained and provide the best possible guest service. </li><li>Establish annual membership renewal schedule and process and send out renewals. </li><li>File completed membership into an alpha system for auditing and perform related clerical tasks. </li><li>Collaborate with the Marketing Manager on overall branding, messaging, and social media strategy for the membership function. </li><li>Ensure timely mailings and accurate data entry, report production and analysis at the end of each processing application. </li><li>Coordinate professional communications for members through various channels, including mail, email, and social media. </li><li>With the Marketing Manager, coordinate, design and implement yearly membership calendar. </li><li>Coordinate and manage annual Spring Acquisition / membership direct mail. </li><li>Re-order printed membership materials and other fulfillment items; maintain inventory. Updated printed material as needed. </li><li>Maintain and ensure accuracy of Altru donor database including software upgrades; requires extensive knowledge and periodic checks and clean-up of systems. </li><li>Identify prospective donors and implement strategic plans to acquire new members; retain and upgrade current members; and recapture lapsed members through on and off-site promotion and mail and email marketing. </li><li>Prepare and monitor department budget. </li><li>Plan and execute members'- only events and assist with other fundraising events as needed. </li><li>Analyze and develop year to date and month to date comparison reports. </li><li>Evaluate and suggest changes to membership procedures, including outreach, benefits, pricing, database, forms, and reports. </li><li>Maintain reciprocal zoo listings (via AZA and Zoo/Aquarium membership depts.) and update as needed. </li><li>Assist with special events and fundraisers as required; may participate in event tickets sales, processing, event organizing and set up and implementation and clean up. </li><li>Promote the Zoo and its mission. </li><li>Support the Zoo's commitment to continued growth of diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging for Zoo team members, volunteers, guests, and supporters. </li><li>Actively contribute to positive guest experience. </li><li>Perform other duties as requested. </li></ul> <p>Experience Required</p> <p>Skills / Knowledge Required: -A bachelor's degree in business, communications, philanthropy, or related field is preferred. Work experience may be a substitution. -Three years' experience in development or related field. -Marketing and membership experience a plus. -Must have excellent verbal and written skills. Comfortable representing the Zoo within this forward-facing position. -Knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet and donor software - familiarity with Altru is a plus. -Basic understanding as it relates to implementing future technology within the membership program; i.e., digital memberships. -Ability to deliver high quality and timely customer service in a busy and high-pressure environment. -Ability to work independently as well as in a team-based environment. -Ability to troubleshoot, analyze situations, and make sound business decisions. -Strong organizational skills. -Ability to handle confidential information. -Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. -Ability to serve in every respect and at all times as a goodwill ambassador for the Potawatomi Zoo in contact with Zoo visitors and the general public. -Ability to deal tactfully and politely with guest concerns, regardless of inappropriate guest behavior.</p> <p>Perks</p> <p>Full benefit package</p> <p>Salary</p> <p>$45k-$55k based on experience</p> <p>How to Apply</p> <p>Email resume: MAnella@potawatomizoo.org</p> <p>Potawatomi Zoo</p> <p>500 S Greenlawn Ave</p> <p>South Bend, IN 46615</p> <p>Phone: 574-235-9800</p> <p>Visit our website</p>
