The Medical Instrument Technician (Inpatient Hemodialysis) position is located in the Renal Hemodialysis Section, within Perioperative Nursing Service; at the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System.</p> <ul> <li>Independently provides Hemodialysis treatment to patients with renal failure. </li><li>Initiates and terminates dialysis treatments following standard procedures. </li><li>Monitors patients throughout treatment and makes necessary adjustments without consultation per the patient's medical condition, previous experience, and accepted practices. </li><li>Monitors dialysis treatment parameters, e.g.. vital signs, weight loss. </li><li>Collects and records vital signs using blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, and scales and thermometers. </li><li>Records patients' condition and changes (blood pressure, excess fluid, etc.), and determines proper treatment procedure, technique, and machine adjustments. </li><li>Connects patient to the dialyzer (using venipunctures, external shunt, etc.) and operates equipment to initiate extracorporeal circulation and performance of dialysis. </li><li>Prepares and dismantles extracorporeal blood circuits and the dialysis machines to create a sterile, air-free blood circuit using a standard aseptic procedure. </li><li>Operates and monitors dialysis machinery in performance of dialysis procedures using prescribed standard procedures and the machine monitoring system. </li><li>Establishes amount of fluid to be removed and sets the machine pressure according to the coefficient of ultrafiltration of the dialyzer. </li><li>Selects appropriate instruments and techniques and troubleshoots complex equipment. </li></ul> <p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional</p> <p>Work Schedule: 7:00am - 5:30pm, Monday - Saturday (Alternating Weekends and Holidays).</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)</p> <p>Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.</p> <p>Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.</p> <p>Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Functional Statement #: 92255A</p> <p>Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required</p>
