<p>Position Description:</p> <p>Purpose</p> <p>We are seeking a Research Technologist II to contribute to active research projects in a basic neuroscience lab investigating the role of cellular and molecular mechanisms in supporting neural cell function, learning and memory, and substance use disorders. The laboratory uses a variety of technical approaches to investigate these broad areas of research, including single-nucleus profiling, CRISPR-based epigenetic editing, cell culture models and various behavioral assays. The individual in this position will receive general direction and guidance for carrying out experimental design of sponsored research projects, including compilation of data and analysis. The individual should be able to operate with a high degree of independence after a training period, as well as communicate effectively with team members and participate in a team-oriented environment.</p> <p>Primary Functions</p> <ul> <li>Carry out routine and complex experiments using laboratory protocols </li><li>Monitor inventory and order lab supplies; carry out assigned duties for ordering, maintaining supply of inventory </li><li>Prepare media and maintain cells by various culturing in techniques </li><li>Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed </li><li>Oversee daily lab operation in the absence of the supervisor or Principle Investigator </li><li>Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of new research protocols </li><li>Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results </li><li>Help evaluate, interpret, and assess experimental data and quality control of assays </li><li>Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment used in research </li><li>Work with others in the laboratory to collect, summarize, perform statistical analyses and graph data </li></ul> <p>Knowledge - Skills - Abilities</p> <p>This position requires basic knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management. A background in neurobiology or cellular and molecular biology is preferred.
