<p>Join the Parker Police Department - Make a Real Impact on Your Community!!</p> <p>The Parker Police Department is seeking two highly detail-oriented Discovery Support Technicians to play a critical role in the criminal justice process. This position is essential to ensuring that cases move forward lawfully, efficiently, and with integrity.</p> <p>As a Discovery Support Technician, you will be the central link between law enforcement, prosecutors, the courts, and partner agencies-managing digital evidence, validating discovery materials, and ensuring strict compliance with Colorado Rule of Criminal Procedure 16. Your work directly safeguards due process, prevents discovery violations, and supports successful prosecutions.</p> <p>This role requires comfort and professionalism when working with sex offenders and sensitive criminal information, including active involvement in sex offender registry compliance, verification activities, and statutory notifications. The work demands discretion, emotional resilience, and a strong understanding of investigative and legal processes.</p> <p>Ideal candidates will have prior investigative experience-particularly in law enforcement and criminal investigations, or case analysis. Your background will be essential in identifying relevant digital evidence, validating discovery materials, meeting strict legal deadlines, and preventing discovery violations that could impact case outcomes.</p> <p>Serve with purpose. Protect the process. Support public safety.</p> <p>The hiring range will be based on experience and the pay range being $28.29 - $39.60. This position works Monday - Friday.</p> <p>You must be able to pass an extensive background check including but not limited to: criminal history search, job suitability exam, credit check and polygraph examination.</p> <p>NOTE: A list of disqualifiers for this position MUST be read prior to applying for this position and can be viewed at Civilian Non-Driving Applicant Disqualifiers | Parker Police - Official Website. Employees holding this position participate in pre-employment and random drug testing under Town's policies</em>.</p> <p>Continuous Timeline: (subject to change)</p> <p>Continuous: Accepting Applications</p> <p>Continuous: Preliminary Interviews Sent Out to Qualifying Candidates (Conducted as video interview through Spark) </p> <p>Continuous: Oral Boards/Chief's Interviews</p> <p>Backgrounds: Take 4-6 Weeks</p> <p>Under general supervision, this position serves as a liaison between the Police Department and the District Attorney's Office regarding discoverable materials, as well as maintaining the Department's sex offender registry.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This job description does not constitute an employment agreement and the Town may change these duties at any time. </p> <ul> <li>Provides discovery to the Courts and District Attorney's Office in both digital and other media. </li><li>Provides redundant validation within the discovery process to ensure no discovery violations. </li><li>Coordinates with external agencies/entities to obtain case reports and digital media to ensure successful integrations and complete processes. </li><li>Provides direct assistance to filing personnel regarding verification and completion of required paperwork. </li><li>Receives and completes discovery requests as required and within deadlines. </li><li>Obtains relevant sexual offense court conviction records, filings, and/or police reports from both in-state and out-of-state courts. </li><li>Enters, updates and modifies all relevant information into various systems and databases. </li><li>Coordinates, prepares documents, and assists with all required residential verification operations. </li><li>Tracks all Police Department sex offenders' re-registration dates and communicates pertinent information with sex offenders. </li><li>Investigates and coordinates with other agencies and the public in order to locate unregistered sex offenders. </li><li>Completes and provides to Interpol, CBI, and the US Marshal's Office the required information surrounding registered sex offenders' planned international travel. </li><li>Upon the registration of a violent sexual predator, coordinates and participates in a community notification meeting. </li><li>Completes required monthly CBI audit of sex offender registry validation information. </li><li>Serves as Notary Public; responsible for notarization of legal documents such as case filing affidavits, warrants, etc. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, certification and/or licensure required. An equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties and meet the necessary employment standards may be considered.</p> <p>High school diploma or GED equivalent and three (3) years of related experience.</p> <p>Law enforcement experience with a demonstrated focus on evidence collection and analysis is required. </p> <p>A valid Colorado Driver License and good driving record or the ability to obtain upon hire is required; must have had a Driver License for at least two (2) years.</p> <p>Employment Standards</p> <p>The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of relevant town, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies. </li><li>Knowledge of the discovery requirements as outlined in Rule 16 of the Colorado Rules of Criminal Procedure. </li><li>Knowledge of police liability issues. </li><li>Knowledge of applicable Federal, State of Colorado and Town laws. </li><li>Knowledge of e-discovery processes and tools. </li><li>Knowledge of CCIC/NCIC, RMS, SOTAR and COSOR database systems. </li><li>Knowledge of Colorado Sex Offender Registry laws and 28 CFR Part 23. </li><li>Skill in the use of computers and various software programs. </li><li>Skill in the operation of computers and other types of modern office equipment. </li><li>Skill in verbal and written communication. </li><li>Ability to work well in a team setting and independently. </li><li>Ability to identify relevant audio and video footage in the performance of duties. </li><li>Ability to work and communicate effectively with a vast group of customers. </li><li>Ability to prioritize through the assigned duties to ensure time is utilized efficiently. </li><li>Ability to work and perform under short deadline times. </li><li>Ability to successfully complete a background check including but not limited to: criminal history search, drug screen, motor vehicle record (MVR) check, polygraph, psychological test is required. </li></ul> <p>The working conditions described below are representative of those an employee generally encounters while performing the essential duties of this job. Employee must understand and be understood. </p> <p>Environment</p> <p>Work is frequently performed in a climate-controlled office environment. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate.</p> <p>The work schedule is anticipated to be Monday - Friday with no regular evenings or weekends.</p>
