<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Psychiatry Medical Director at Codman Square Health Center is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the clinical and administrative operations of the Psychiatry Service. The Director will play a key role in enhancing patient care quality, driving community health initiatives, and aligning the department's goals with the broader mission of the health center. This role requires a leader committed to improving health outcomes and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration within the team.</p> <p>The behavioral department provides highly collaborative team atmospheres, with behavioral health integrated into primary care and specialty departments along with care management, social service, nutrition, and family planning services. The Health Center is a teaching institution and opportunities for resident, fellows, and NP/PA student teaching are available. The Health Center has a close partnership with Boston Medical Center and is a member of the Boston Accountable Care Organization.</p> <p>The Psychiatry Medical Director is integral to achieving this vision through the provision of direct care to a panel of patients as well as supporting the psychiatric health of the patient population through e-consultation, integrated care, and team education.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <p>Clinical Leadership and Patient Care Excellence</p> <ul> <li>Clinical Oversight: Provide clinical leadership for team psychiatrists and other psychiatry clinicians, ensuring care delivery meets the highest evidence-based practice standards. Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical protocols to ensure consistency and quality across the department. </li><li>Patient Care: Directly engage in patient care, modeling best practices for other providers. Lead efforts to continually improve patient experience, outcomes, and satisfaction within the department. </li><li>Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, reduce healthcare disparities, and improve primary care services' overall effectiveness. Utilize data-driven approaches to assess and advance the quality of care. </li></ul> <p>Operational and Financial Management</p> <ul> <li>Departmental Operations: Together with the Behavioral Health Director, oversee the day-to-day operations of the Department, ensuring efficient workflow, optimal staffing levels, and effective resource allocation. Collaborate with the operations team to develop and refine scheduling templates and provider productivity metrics. </li><li>Budget Management: Manage the departmental budget in collaboration with the Behavioral Health Director, ensuring that financial targets are met while maintaining high standards of care. Review financial performance regularly and implement strategies to optimize revenue generation and cost control. </li><li>Resource Allocation: Ensure that the Department is adequately resourced regarding personnel, equipment, and supplies. Advocate for necessary investments to support the department's goals and enhance patient care. </li></ul> <p>Staff Supervision and Development</p> <ul> <li>Team Leadership: The Director will supervise a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and other staff. Provide ongoing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure professional growth and high morale among team members. </li><li>Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular performance evaluations for all providers, including annual reviews and interim assessments as needed. Address performance issues proactively, providing constructive feedback and supporting professional development plans. </li><li>Recruitment and Retention: Lead recruitment efforts for the Department, ensuring that hiring aligns with the health center's mission and values. Implement strategies to retain top talent, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Qualifications and Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Education: MD, DO, APP, licensed to practice in Massachusetts with at least five years of clinical experience, including at least two years in a leadership role within a clinical setting </li><li>Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing a multidisciplinary healthcare team, with a strong track record of improving clinical quality, operational efficiency, and patient satisfaction </li><li>Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team toward achieving strategic objectives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with staff, patients, and community partners. </li></ul>
