<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The University of Tennessee Medical Center's Nursing Extern Program provides nursing students with a paid opportunity to expand clinical knowledge and increase confidence in the healthcare setting. The Extern Program includes learning alongside a Registered Nurse in addition to specialized learning opportunities.</p> <p>The program will begin on June 2, 2025 and will go through August 8, 2025.</p> <p>The Nursing Extern performs direct and indirect patient care activities under supervision of licensed personnel. Externs are employed by the hospital, but are not licensed personnel.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provides all assessment and patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse</p> </li><li> <p>Performs direct patient care activities while maintaining maximum comfort and safety of patients</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains neatness, cleanliness, and readiness of physical facilities of patient care units</p> </li><li> <p>Assists team members to meet patient care needs</p> </li><li> <p>Provides nursing care specific to age-related needs</p> </li><li> <p>Promotes patient experience</p> </li><li> <p>Complies with established departmental policies and procedures</p> </li><li> <p>Attend required and supplemental education related to Extern Program</p> </li></ul> <p>Position Qualification:</p> <p>All applicants must meet the following requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>High school diploma or GED.</p> </li><li> <p>Completed 1 full year in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.</p> </li><li> <p>Projected to graduate from an Accredited Nursing Program with Bachelor of Science in Nursing by Spring 2026.</p> </li><li> <p>3.0 GPA or above.</p> </li><li> <p>Available to work 8 to 12-hour shifts, days; 3 times per week; June 2, 2025 to August 8, 2025.</p> </li><li> <p>Available to attend orientation scheduled on:</p> </li></ul> <p>June 2, 2025 to June 5, 2025 from 8:00am - 5:00pm</p>
