The position will start in August 2025. Candidates for this position must have the background and ability to serve as a mentor and leader of the University's wrestling program. Wilberforce University is a student-centered learning environment, and applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to student success. The Head Wrestling Coach is responsible for recruiting and organization of the college's wrestling program</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Serves as principal recruiter for wrestling. </li><li>Identifies, and assesses prospective wrestlers and works toward their recruitment with the Office of Admission. </li><li>Organizes, in conjunction with the Director of Athletics all aspects of the wrestling program, including facility, competition, and practice schedules, and team operations. </li><li>Acts as an ambassador of the College and positively conducts oneself to heighten the institution's awareness among all its constituents. </li><li>Works closely with the promotional and fundraising efforts of the athletic department. </li><li>Follows all institutional, HBCUAC, and NAIA regulations regarding wrestling and athletics in general. </li><li>Establishes study hall for student-athletes. </li><li>Availability to work evenings and weekends and to travel for team practices, competition, and scouting. </li><li>Assists with the transportation of the team in vans or buses, upon approval. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and the Vice President for Student Life. </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to objectively evaluate physical and mental performance related to the intercollegiate athletic program. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population. </li><li>Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. </li><li>Significant experience in coaching intercollegiate athletics or an equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>Understanding of the use of Microsoft applications of WORD, and EXCEL. </li></ul> <p>Wilberforce University</p> <p>Founded in 1856, Wilberforce University is America's first private, coeducational University established to educated men and women of African descent; and is closely affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
