<p>ENTRY SALARY: $59,162.74 CURRENT LISTING IS FOR CGS ENERGY/GAS DEPARTMENTUnder general supervision and direction, the CAD and GIS Technician performs technical engineering and computer work related to drafting tasks and developing and maintaining information utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) applications.Essential Functions: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Drafts, develops, and updates Plats, maps and atlases using AutoCAD and/or GIS software; prepares and creates detailed and standard drawings of an engineering nature. Assists, supports, and participates in design work established by engineer's criteria to prepare detailed topographic and construction drawings from computerized field data, field survey notes, rough sketches and/or oral instructions, and plotting data on plan and profile drawings. Assists systems analysis staff in developing and maintaining applications; maintains accurate and efficient databases and quality control standards for usage.Translates, decodes, and analyzes incoming and outgoing data; enters and maintains the data for GIS to ensure it meets all applicable standards. Provides technical assistance and guidance to City GIS users; works with other City departments and outside agencies to ensure project goals are met. Computes and verifies cost and quantity estimates; verifies and writes legal descriptions. Performs research of records and deeds to obtain pertinent data for engineering projects; prepares special charts and drawings for visual presentations. Maintains city atlases and engineering project records, as well as other similar document control work; provides technical assistance and direction for various projects and engineering related functions and tasks. Performs other duties as assigned.Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:A valid State driver's license is required. Education and Experience:High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate, supplemented by six (6) months of technical training in computerized mapping, GIS, computerized drafting, civil engineering, computer programming, cartography or other related field AND one (1) year drafting experience using AutoCAD in Engineering drafting, computer cartography, and/or GIS work.Knowledge of - Principles and practices of engineering drafting and civil engineering related to public works Mathematics as applied to sub-professional engineering computations Cartographic techniques, computers, and peripherals Surveying and construction methods and practices Department policies and protocols Skill in - Using AutoCAD and other GIS systems111 Preparing and submitting clear and concise verbal reports and written summaries on traffic studies; providing analysis and recommendations Establishing and maintaining good relationships Dealing tactfully with the public Operating a computer with general proficiency</p>
