<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Bloomfield Public School District is accepting applications from qualified candidates for a Middle School Social Studies Teacher (Grade 8) position at Carmen Arace Middle School.</p> <p>THIS IS A ONE YEAR ONLY POSITION (2025-26 School Year)</p> <p>Work Year: 10-month position - 186 days</p> <p>Work Day: 7.25 hours per day/ 36.25 hours per week</p> <p>Hourly Wage: Per BEA Teachers Agreement</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates knowledge of the subject to be taught. </li><li>Effectively implements instructional plans and uses appropriate instructional techniques. </li><li>Effectively communicates with students. </li><li>Provides an opportunity for students to receive out-of-class instruction and/or assistance. </li><li>Works with the Principal, Supervisor(s), and others, as designated, in evaluating and planning programs for students. </li><li>Plans a program of study that, to the maximum degree, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. </li><li>Adheres to the established curriculum and guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and other system goals. In harmony with these goals-establishes clear objectives for all lessons. </li><li>Employs instructional methods, grouping, and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives. </li><li>Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the developmental level and interests of the children. </li><li>Encourages and maintains the cooperative involvement and support of parents and the community. </li><li>Participates in curriculum development. </li><li>Works within the requirements of Board and Administrative policy. </li><li>Communicates effectively with parents in order to keep them informed regarding their child's progress. </li><li>Performs all teaching and non-teaching duties that are assigned. </li><li>Counsels with colleagues, unit or department, pupils, and parents on a regular basis. </li><li>Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing pupils' educational life and conduct. </li><li>Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides, student teachers, and volunteers, as appropriate, and, cooperatively with the unit leader, department head, or supervisor, evaluates their job performance. </li><li>Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. </li><li>Exhibits professional and ethical behavior at all times. </li><li>Other duties and/or responsibilities may be assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Appropriate CT Grade / Subject Area Certification - Social Studies - (026) or (226)</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work within difficult time constraints and under stressful conditions </li><li>Knowledge of strong, validated, evidenced-based intervention programs </li><li>A minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience </li><li>Well-developed oral, written, and speaking skills </li></ul> <p>Effective Date: August 25, 2025 (2025/26 SY)</p> <p>EOE</p>
