<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p> <p>This Registered Nurse - Spinal Cord Injury/Disorders (Unit 1U) position is located in Spinal Cord Injury/Disorder Inpatient Unit. Registered Nurses as a member of the interdisciplinary team provide care to new and existing spinal cord injury Veterans through rehabilitation and sustaining care.</p> <p>Some of the responsibilities of the Registered Nurse include the following:</p> <ul> <li>Relies on preceptor to set work flow and identify responsibilities. </li><li>Completes initial assessments and reassessments and reassessments of assigned patients as directed. </li><li>Completes plan of care for patients and updates plan of care based on assessments. </li><li>Documents in a complete and comprehensive manner all assessments, findings, education and interactions with patients or their family units. </li><li>Administers medications in a safe and efficient manner following established policies. </li><li>Inserts and manages peripheral intravenous access (PIV). </li><li>Manages central venous access sites, infusion of continuous fluids and administers IV push medications under direct supervision of preceptor. (Note-can manage without direct observation of preceptor once, competency has been established/validated.) </li><li>Completes admission and discharge of patients/residents in accordance with established unit policies. </li><li>The Registered Nurse is directly responsible to the designated manager in the assigned area. </li><li>The Registered Nurse possesses the knowledge and skills to effectively apply all aspects of the nursing process within a collaborative, interdisciplinary practice setting, which will then enable effective implementation of health promotion and prevention practices, management of acute and chronic illnesses, and attainment of optimal levels of functioning and/or support of the dying patient, and significant others. </li></ul> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>Work Schedule: Various tours, to be discussed with the hiring manager.</p> <p>Telework: Not Authorized</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized</p> <p>EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
