<p>Posted February 19, 2025</p> <p>Instructor or Assistant Professor of Psychology</p> <p>Department of Social Sciences, University of Charleston</p> <p>The Psychology Program at the University of Charleston invites applications for the full-time position as an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Psychology to start August 2025.</p> <p>The Psychology Program, part of the Department of Social Sciences, serves approximately 60 students with Bachelor of Arts (in-seat and online) and Bachelor of Science (in-seat) degree programs. The program also provides courses for majors including exercise science, occupational therapy, nursing, and other disciplines.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <ul> <li>We seek a highly creative and interactive scholar who has specialization in social psychology, developmental psychology, or experimental psychology. </li><li>The successful candidate should be prepared to teach in their specialty area, research methods, and statistics. </li><li>They will be expected to conduct collaborative research with undergraduate students. This nine-month position is scheduled to begin on August 11, 2025. </li></ul> <p>Essential Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach and develop courses at the undergraduate level in the areas listed above </li><li>Teach courses in face-to-face and online formats </li><li>Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with colleagues </li><li>Advise students in-seat and online </li><li>Conduct psychological research with undergraduate students </li><li>Serve on university committees, maintain currency in the field and duties as prescribed in the UC Faculty Manual </li><li>Other duties assigned </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>PhD preferred </li><li>ABD/Master's degree considered with evidence of teaching and/or industry experience and scholarship </li><li>Candidates should be able to teach in the in-seat and online format. </li></ul> <p>Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.</p> <p>Interested applicants should submit a current vitae/resume, statement of teaching philosophy, contact information for three professional references, and a cover letter addressing the criteria and qualifications identified to:</p> <p>School of Arts and Sciences, artsandsciences@ucwv.edu</p> <p>The University of Charleston is an Equal Opportunity Employer</p>
