<p>Job Description</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>Assists with vital store functions such as receiving, stocking and merchandising store product as well as cashiering. May also act as expert in field for telescopes or science related items.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>One (1) year of customer service experience. Experience with retail sales and merchandising preferable.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Advise Store Buyer of items needing to be restocked, or that are receiving frequent customer requests. </li><li>Assist customers with inquiries regarding store product including telescopes and binoculars. </li><li>Alert Manager/Buyer to product shipments that arrive and forward documentation for receipt of goods. </li><li>Ensure that store is clean and properly merchandised daily. </li><li>Stock newly arrived product. </li><li>Organize and monitor store items in storage rooms and replenish floor as needed. </li><li>Train new associates in proper store cleaning and merchandising. </li><li>Acts as cashier, ringing up merchandise for customers. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Retail operations including cashiering </li><li>Telescopes, binoculars, and their accessories preferred </li><li>Use/operate computers, computer software, and modern office equipment related to job-specific duties </li><li>Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English. </li><li>Adapt to a rapidly changing environment </li><li>Work in a team setting and independently </li><li>Plan, organize, and prioritize work assignment </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>To perform this job, you must be able to listen, speak, write in English, walk, sit, stand for long periods of time, lift 50 pounds, and bend down. Work duties are typically performed in a retail store setting. Afternoon, weekends, and holidays may be required.</p> <p>Background Check Information:</p> <p>Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.</p> <p>IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION</p> <p>An "At Will" FLSA non-exempt employee who is not eligible for County benefits and who must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month.</p>
