No Pay Information $36,000 - $39,000 Pay Schedule Hourly FLSA Designation Non-Exempt Position Summary</p> <p>Under the direction of the Director of Access Services, this position is primarily responsible for the coordination and processing of electronic and physical reserve materials, and customer service at the main service desk area. This is a high energy position with some general reference services. Areas of specialization include: basic library reference and circulation service, electronic and physical reserves management, billing for fines and lost items, lost book report and processing, and assisting with the coordination of student assistants working day shift hours. In the absence of the Access Services Director, this position may be responsible for the supervision of circulation staff and student assistants. Exemplary customer assistance is the essential function for this position.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <p>Responsibility Area: Patron Services and Service Desks Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Work service desk 5-6 hours Tuesday-Friday, and 8 hours on Saturday </li><li>Reviews operating procedures and practices of department, recommending changes to increase accuracy and efficiency of all circulation functions </li><li>Serves as a resource to patrons and staff by interpreting and explaining the application of departmental policies </li><li>Assists with management of media services </li><li>Provides general desk service including in-person,online and telephone </li><li>Assists patrons in locating library items and materials </li></ul> <p>Percentage Of Time 60 Essential Function: Yes Responsibility Area: Public Service and Customer Relations Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Open and close service desks as needed, including clearing and securing the building after closing </li><li>Maintains and consistently provides excellent customer service while working extensively with a variety of patron groups </li><li>Assists patrons in using the library catalog </li><li>Assists patrons in using and provides maintenance for equipment check-out </li><li>Supports daily operations of circulation, reserves/media and copy center </li><li>Serves as a resource to patrons by interpreting and explaining application of reserves/media policies </li></ul> <p>Percentage Of Time 20 Essential Function: Yes Responsibility Area: Course Reserves Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Investigates and implements procedures for reserves, both electronic and in print </li><li>Maintains the reserves database </li><li>Prepares and submits statistical reports for electronic and physical reserves </li><li>Serves as a resource to patrons by interpreting and explaining the application of reserves/media policies </li><li>Serves as the electronic reserves contact point person </li></ul> <p>Percentage Of Time 10 Essential Function: Yes Responsibility Area: Supervisory and Administrative Duties Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for supervision of service desk student workers </li><li>Assists in hiring, training and supervising student workers </li><li>Assembles and compiles departmental operating data, creates and maintains statistical reports </li></ul> <p>Percentage Of Time 5 Essential Function: Responsibility Area: General Responsibilities Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Actively participates in process improvement and policy/procedure documentation </li><li>Serves on library and university committees as required </li><li>Participates in cross-departmental projects within the library </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Percentage Of Time 5 Essential Function:</p> <p>Required and Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Required Education</p> <p>Two years of college or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be required.</p> <p>Required Experience</p> <p>Minimum of one year customer service experience. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with the public. Exemplary customer service and computer skills.</p> <p>Required License/Certification Required Additional Qualifications: Preferred Education</p> <p>Bachelor's degree or four years undergraduate work</p> <p>Preferred Experience</p> <p>Previous library circulation experience. Knowledge of ExLibris Alma software. Knowledge of copyright and scanning technologies.
