<p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts & Sciences at Cleveland State University invites applications for two (2) Assistant College Lecturer positions starting August 18, 2025. These are renewable, non-tenure-track positions.</p> <p>Assistant College Lecturers may be assigned up to 15 credits of teaching and service work per semester (typically four courses per semester). Service includes active participation in the department and potential engagement in other University activities. Teaching responsibilities include teaching undergraduate classes in mathematics and statistics. The department has particular needs in developmental and co-requisite courses, quantitative literacy, pre-calculus, calculus, and introductory statistics. These courses are taught in a coordinated format.</p> <p>The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers a minor, B.S., B.A., and M.S. degrees in Mathematics, a minor and M.S. in Statistics, and an Integrated B.A. in Mathematics and Economics. The department consists of 22.5 full-time faculty, which includes five lecturers and two professors of practice. CSU is striving to be a nationally recognized and student focused public research institution that provides accessible, affordable, and Engaged Learning opportunities for all.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in mathematical science (such as mathematics, statistics, data science, math education, or a related field) or an MS in a related field (such as engineering or economics) with at least 18 graduate credits of coursework in mathematics and/or statistics; </li><li>Experience in teaching mathematics and/or statistics courses; </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Broad experience teaching a variety of college-level courses, including developmental mathematics, co-requisite courses, quantitative reasoning, statistics, pre-calculus, and calculus, or extensive longitudinal experience teaching college-level courses in a particular area; </li><li>Demonstrated excellence in teaching 100 and 200 level classes, mentoring students, and enhancing student engagement and success; </li><li>Experience with a variety of methods of instruction and assessment, such as using online homework systems and teaching in a coordinated course; </li><li>Demonstrated service contributions in an academic environment; </li><li>Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills; </li><li>Ph.D. in a mathematical science (such as mathematics, statistics, math education, or a related field) or relevant industry experience. </li></ul>
