Your work directly supports safe rail operations and uninterrupted freight movement. This is a physical, skilled position well-suited for individuals with mechanical aptitude who enjoy working with tools and seeing tangible results from their efforts.</p> <p>A Day in the Life</p> <p>Railcar Mechanics are actively engaged throughout their shift inspecting, repairing, and maintaining railcars. Typical duties include:</p> <ul> <li>Inspecting railcars for defects or wear </li><li>Repairing or replacing steel components </li><li>Cutting, grinding, and welding worn or damaged parts </li><li>Using torches, welders, grinders, and hand tools </li><li>Troubleshooting mechanical issues </li><li>Following all safety procedures and identifying hazards </li></ul> <p>No two days are exactly the same.
