Your work directly supports safe rail operations and uninterrupted freight movement. This is a physical, skilled position well-suited for individuals with mechanical aptitude who enjoy working with tools and seeing tangible results from their efforts.</p> <p>A Day in the Life</p> <p>Railcar Mechanics are actively engaged throughout their shift inspecting, repairing, and maintaining railcars. Typical duties include:</p> <ul> <li>Inspecting railcars for defects or wear </li><li>Repairing or replacing steel components </li><li>Cutting, grinding, and welding worn or damaged parts </li><li>Using torches, welders, grinders, and hand tools </li><li>Troubleshooting mechanical issues </li><li>Following all safety procedures and identifying hazards </li></ul> <p>No two days are exactly the same. You'll work independently and as part of a team, think critically, and take pride in restoring railcars to safe, service-ready condition.</p> <p>What You'll Bring</p> <ul> <li>Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn </li><li>Safety-first mindset and reliable work ethic </li><li>High school diploma or GED </li><li>Valid driver's license </li><li>Ability to work in an outdoor, industrial environment </li></ul> <p>Prior railcar repair experience is not required.
