<p>PRIMARY FUNCTION</p> <p>Responsible for the education, supervision and management of children between the ages of three and five years of age. The program operates 184 days a year, with a morning and afternoon session of 24 students per class. The teacher is responsible for the planning of appropriate educational lessons and activities in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Center Pre-K curriculum and with state teacher/adult and child ratio requirements. The person selected for this position must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children, especially in the fields of early childhood education, development and special education.</p> <p>ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIPS</p> <p>Directly responsible to the Early Childhood Education Program Director</p> <p>TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>These responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, supervise, and implement the program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the District's Early Childhood Education Program </li><li>Gear the program to the needs of individual children with concern for planning appropriate activities around children's interests, special needs and level of development assessed by using the Desired Results Developmental Profile </li><li>Treat children with dignity and respect </li><li>Maintain a safe, healthy, ordered and appropriate learning environment in and outside of the classroom </li><li>Assume an equivalent share of the staffs' joint housekeeping responsibilities </li><li>Participates in recommended training programs, conferences and courses and, other aspects of professional growth </li><li>Plans and implements methods of establishing a positive liaison with parents and school site staff </li><li>Keeps accurate attendance records, anecdotal progress reports, assessments records, parent conference forms to be shared with parents and portfolio support documentation on individual children </li><li>Other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Experience and training should reflect a high level of professional preparation and dedication as a teacher of young children of different developmental levels from diverse social, cultural and language background </li><li>Professionally trained in the field of early childhood education or growth and development </li><li>Ability to assess the individual needs of children and to develop an appropriate program for all </li></ul> <p>children</p> <ul> <li>Ability to establish and maintain a high level of collegial cooperation with staff and community </li></ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS</p> <p>Possession of a valid Site Supervisor Children's Center Permit authorizing the supervision of a single site program and instructional services to Children's Centers</p> <p>SALARY AND FRINGE BENEFITS</p> <p>Salary is dependent upon teaching experience and education.
