<p>Position Title: Principal - Legacy High School</p> <p>2025 - 2026 School Year</p> <p>1.0 FTE</p> <p>8 hours a day, 260 days, vacation eligible</p> <p>This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected.</p> <p>This is a Continuing Position.</p> <p>Evergreen Public Schools (EPS) offers the following to eligible employees who work at least 630 hours in a school year:</p> <ul> <li>Medical, dental, vision, basic long-term disability, basic life and AD&D insurance through School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). community.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>*</p> <ul> <li>The principal oversees all aspects of both the in-person and virtual learning (Legacy Online) environments, ensuring equitable access, support, and outcomes for all students regardless of learning setting. </li><li>Provides strategic leadership to foster a safe, inclusive, and flexible learning environment that supports academic growth, social-emotional development, and successful post-secondary transitions. </li><li>Build strong relationships with families, community partners, and local organizations to support students' academic and social-emotional needs. </li><li>Use disaggregated data to identify opportunity gaps and implement strategies to accelerate growth for historically underserved groups. </li><li>Champion high academic standards for all students, including those facing significant systemic and personal challenges. </li><li>Foster a school culture where every student feels a sense of belonging, dignity, and agency. </li><li>Implement restorative practices and student-centered discipline policies that prioritize relationship-building, accountability, and reduce disproportionality. </li><li>Builds trusting, respectful partnerships with families from all backgrounds to support student success, ensuring communication is accessible, culturally responsive, and inclusive. </li><li>Collaborates with instructional staff to align curriculum, instruction, and assessment with state and local learning goals in ways that are culturally responsive, inclusive, and reflective of the diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds of all students. </li><li>Develop and implement culturally responsive standard operating procedures, practices and routines that promote consistency and inclusivity. </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of and ensures compliance with Washington State Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) laws, including requirements for written student learning plans, monthly progress reviews, certificated teacher contact, and accurate reporting. </li><li>Communicate and partner with colleagues, parents, and educational online service providers to promote student learning and comply with ALE laws and regulations. </li><li>Actively manages district-wide credit recovery and online summer school. </li><li>Provides leadership and oversight for the Re-Entry program, supporting students returning to school and reengaging in their educational pathway. </li><li>Leads efforts to reengage students through Open Doors program, ensuring pathways to education are accessible and responsive to individual needs. </li><li>Maintain communication and liaison with parents and community groups. </li><li>Articulate a vision for high school education based on a professional commitment to improving learning for all students. </li><li>Evaluate certificated teachers and provide meaningful feedback that will improve instruction. </li><li>Demonstrate understanding of the research base related to rigorous, engaging teaching and learning. </li><li>Articulate key elements of best practices in literacy, mathematics, social studies, and science instruction for high school students. </li><li>Lead and participate in Professional Learning Communities that foster collaborative inquiry and data-driven practices to improve learning outcomes for all students. </li><li>Demonstrate ability to use technology to problem solve and model 21st century communication skills. </li><li>Leads for inclusive programming for students qualified for special education services and those learning English as a second language. </li><li>Demonstrate a commitment to closing the achievement gap. </li><li>Develops cultural competence and a commitment to equity in outcomes and opportunities for adults and students. </li><li>Leads for equity towards college and career readiness. </li><li>Nurtures a school environment that celebrates, respects, and values diversity where teaching and learning are made relevant and meaningful to students of various cultures. </li><li>Publically draws attention to all equity gaps that exist for various groups of students with plans to address their elimination. </li><li>Initiates activities and discussions that lead to increased cultural competence of staff, informing and expanding teaching practices within classrooms. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>*</p> <ul> <li>Successful completion of a Master's Degree. </li><li>Teaching in secondary education and administration. </li><li>Minimum of 5 years secondary teaching experience. </li><li>Minimum 3 years of experience in secondary building administration. </li><li>Ability to demonstrate effective written and oral communications with diverse community members to include students, staff, parents and community stakeholders. </li><li>Ability to respond to and engage with a diverse multi-cultural and multi-racial community, and to work side by side and foster strong, positive relationships with parents, staff, students and the public. </li><li>Training in Clinical Supervision, Group Process Skills, assessment, literacy preferred. </li><li>Experience in teaching in a blended or online environment preferred. </li><li>Experience working in or coordination of an ALE program preferred. </li><li>Experience working with a Learning Management System and other online learning technologies preferred. </li><li>Experience in developing and facilitating engaging professional development for staff and a commitment to equity while building a diverse and inclusive school community. </li><li>Current training in secondary literacy, reading/writing process preferred. </li><li>Certification: Valid Washington Principal's Credential. </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Related to Cultural Competence and Equity:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others. </li><li>Nurtures a positive school environment that celebrates, respects and values diversity, where teaching and learning are made relevant and meaningful to students of various cultures. </li><li>Initiates activities and discussions that lead to increased cultural competence of staff, informing and expanding teaching practices within classrooms. </li><li>Models instructional leadership and demonstrates a strong commitment to equitable outcomes for all students. </li><li>Ability to recognize each person as a unique individual even as we celebrate their group cultural heritage. </li><li>The ability and desire to establish positive relationships with persons regardless of race, gender, physical limitation, sexual orientation or religious belief, with an active commitment to equal opportunity for all persons. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships and interact successfully with diverse instructional support services and administrative staff, including perceiving the needs and concerns of others; assisting others in resolving conflicts; motivating others; and designing programs to
