<p>The Stamford JCC is seeking a creative, nurturing, and enthusiastic Art Instructor to inspire young children through visual arts. This position includes teaching hands-on art classes to preschool students and providing support in select elementary art classes. The ideal candidate is passionate about early childhood education, has a strong foundation in art instruction, and enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues and children of varying ages.</p> <p>Preschool Art Instruction:</p> <ul> <li>Plan and implement age-appropriate art lessons that support creativity, fine motor development, and self-expression. </li><li>Use a variety of materials and techniques (painting, collage, sculpture, etc.) to engage young learners. </li><li>Integrate themes and literature into art activities. </li><li>Maintain a welcoming, organized, and stimulating art environment. </li><li>Document and distribute completed student work to families regularly. </li></ul> <p>Grade School Art Support:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the elementary art teacher with classroom setup, project prep, and student supervision. </li><li>Support individual or small groups of students during lessons. </li><li>Help with cleanup, material organization, and distribution of completed artwork. </li><li>Provide occasional substitute teaching coverage of elementary art classes as needed. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by Director of Operations Performing Arts, Senior Director of Programming, and JCC CEO. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Early Childhood Education, Fine Arts, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred. </li><li>Experience teaching art to preschool and/or early elementary students. </li><li>Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to various age levels. </li><li>Familiarity with child-centered, process-based art practices and passion for working with young children. </li><li>Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset. </li><li>Ability to liaise in a professional manner with parents and students. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule:</p> <ul> <li>Must be available to teach weekday afternoons and early evenings </li></ul>
