<p>Job Description Summary</p> <p>The Master of Science in Genetic Counseling Program within the College of Health Professions seeks a proven leader to serve as an Instructor and Curriculum Coordinator. The Division of Genetic Counseling is housed within the Department of Clinical Sciences which is the home of accredited professional practice programs: Anesthesia for Nurses (Doctorate), Cardiovascular Perfusion (Masters), and Physician Assistant Studies-Residential (Masters). The Department is also the home of the Division of Healthcare Studies that offers students opportunities to acquire a Bachelor of Science degree, a new Pathology Assistant (Masters) program and a new Physician Assistant Studies-hybrid, (Masters) program. Additional programs within the College include Occupational Therapy (Doctorate), Physical Therapy (Doctorate), Speech Language Pathology (Masters), Health Administration (Masters and Doctorate), Health Informatics (Masters) and Health and Rehabilitation Science (PhD).</p> <p>This is a full-time position within the Division of Genetic Counseling with the opportunity to work remotely full-time, work on-campus full-time, or work a hybrid schedule. The Instructor will provide administrative leadership to the Division of Genetic Counseling in its teaching, research and clinical missions and help realize the College's vision of improving the health of populations by developing and inspiring health scientists and leaders. The faculty member may also engage in clinical practice as a part of their assigned duties.</p> <p>Job Duties: 100%</p> <p>In collaboration with the Division Director, Assistant Program Director and Director of Clinical Training:</p> <ul> <li>Provide administrative leadership to the Division of Genetic Counseling </li><li>Provide academic advising, as well as monitoring, evaluating, and remediating student performance </li><li>Provide ongoing curriculum review and implement modifications as needed to ensure Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) and MUSC compliance </li><li>Contribute to student instruction as a course instructor in area(s) of expertise </li><li>Collect and maintain all didactic course grades and evaluations (qualitative and quantitative) </li><li>Provide supervision of standardized patient encounters </li><li>Participate in program admissions including recruitment, application review, and interviews </li><li>Engage with CHP Marketing on website and marketing initiatives </li><li>Assist with thesis course maintenance and student project development and mentorship </li><li>Attend and participate in weekly MSGC program meetings </li><li>Participate in leadership and service within professional organizations appropriate with the faculty member's clinical experience and educational preparation </li><li>Conduct scholarship and/or research in areas of the faculty member's academic interests </li><li>Participate in professional development appropriate for the faculty's areas of professional expertise </li><li>Clinical practice 40% of effort (TBD based on expertise and institutional need) </li><li>Participate in other duties as assigned by the Division Director </li></ul> <p>Required Experience & Additional Skills:</p> <p>The Curriculum Coordinator must:</p> <ul> <li>Hold a Master's degree in the discipline of genetic counseling </li><li>Have current certification in genetic counseling by ABGC (recertify as needed) </li><li>Hold or obtain a South Carolina genetic counseling license </li><li>Have at least three years of experience in the field </li><li>Have administrative, leadership, supervision and teaching experience; research experience and/or interest is preferred </li><li>Be available for program administration year-round </li><li>Demonstrate excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with close attention to detail </li><li>Possess strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills </li><li>Possess a strong commitment to achieve the missions of the Division of Genetic Counseling, the College of Health Professions, and the Medical University of South Carolina </li></ul> <p>Medical University of South Carolina</p> <p>Founded in 1824 in Charleston, MUSC is the state's only comprehensive academic health system, with a unique mission to preserve and optimize human life in South Carolina through education, research and patient care.
