<p>Position Description</p> <p>Location: Aquatic Center (Rancho Campus)</p> <p>Start Date: Immediately</p> <p>Hourly Rate: $20.00</p> <p>Working Hours: This is a temporary position, with expected hours between 4 to 6 per day Monday - Thursday.</p> <p>The Chaffey College Lifeguard will enforce applicable rules, regulations, and ordinances at a college swimming pool to prevent accidents. Rescues persons in danger of drowning and administers CPR and first aid when necessary.</p> <p>CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT</p> <p>Being able and ready to work in-person with Chaffey students, Chaffey employees, or other members of the Chaffey community/Chaffey partners/Chaffey contractors is an essential function of this job.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Enforces applicable rules, regulations, and ordinances at a college swimming pool to prevent accidents </li><li>Rescues persons in danger of drowning and administers CPR and first aid when necessary </li><li>Inspects and monitors the use of pool equipment and reports unsanitary, unsafe, or hazardous conditions </li><li>Performs minor emergency repair, maintenance, and clean-up work required to prevent accidents and to maintain maximum health standards </li><li>Answers inquiries and provides information to the public regarding swimming programs and special events </li><li>May assist in swimming and lifesaving instruction. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li> <p>A valid Lifeguard Training Certificate issued by the American Red Cross;</p> </li><li> <p>A valid First Aid Certificate or its equivalent issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association;</p> </li><li> <p>A valid certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association;</p> </li><li> <p>A valid certificate in Automated External Defibrillator (AED) issued by the American Red Cross;</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum one year of related experience;</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of:</p> </li><li> <p>Rules, regulations, and ordinances related to the operation and use of college swimming pools and swimming pool equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Water safety and lifesaving methods including techniques of resuscitation and first aid.</p> </li><li> <p>Health standards and safety practices for swimming pools.</p> </li><li> <p>Emergency procedures to obtain rescue services.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and classified professionals.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to:</p> </li><li> <p>Apply swimming and pool rescue techniques.</p> </li><li> <p>Enforce applicable rules and regulations and maintain discipline.</p> </li><li> <p>Remain calm in emergencies, assess situations accurately, and think and act quickly.</p> </li><li> <p>Remain alert and maintain focus of attention for long periods of time without being distracted.</p> </li><li> <p>Administer first aid, including CPR/AED.</p> </li><li> <p>Work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the public.</p> </li></ul> <p>DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Valid Water Safety Instructor Certificate issued by the American Red Cross. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>APPLICATION PROCESS</p> <p>Chaffey College recently utilizes online electronic application system.
