<p>Description</p> <p>The Financial Services Department is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the College and reporting the College's financial position. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and maintaining the general accounting functions in Financial Services. This supervisory position is also responsible for providing strategic and day-to-day leadership in the department to include general accounting, financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and fiscal monitoring.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <ul> <li>Supervise Staff Accounting Specialist Grants Accounting, and Accounts Payable Specialist. </li><li>Supervise and organize the workflow of general accounting and grant-related functions in the Business Office. </li><li>Actively participate in the regular financial management of the College's fiscal affairs. </li><li>Review grant proposals and renewals in coordination with the Grants Specialist and Director of Development. </li><li>Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reconciliations of the College's general ledger accounts. </li><li>Review and approve accounts payable checks under a certain threshold, to include verification of proper support and that policies and procedures are being followed. </li><li>Supervise Fixed Asset system for the College, including conducting required physical inventories and the correct tagging of assets, set-up of new assets, determining asset useful lives, while following capitalization policy and procedures. </li><li>Assist with processing year-end reports for all Fixed Assets to include reconciliation to the general ledger, completion of the Property Roll-Forward, and recording gain/loss on disposed assets. </li><li>Supervise grant-related accounting processes, to include budgets, transfers, and reporting. </li><li>Ensure that all appropriate grant reimbursements are accurately applied for and received on time through supervision of the grant office functions. </li><li>Supervises the maintenance of the database of all active and pending grants, to include all financial and reporting deadlines, and a summary worksheet of all grants for the College. </li><li>Assist with special projects as assigned by the Director of Fiscal Affairs. </li><li>Assist auditors with information and documentation for operating funds and grant audits. </li><li>Assist in preparing the annual college Schedule of Federal Expenditures (SEFA) and work with college auditors. </li><li>Coordinate desk/on-site fiscal monitoring of grants done by local, state, or federal agencies. </li><li>Ensures financial processes and procedures meet financial reporting requirements. </li><li>Review and approve grant journal entries. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with substantial experience in a post-secondary financial environment.</p> <p>Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, business administration, or a closely related field. Five (5) years progressively responsible accounting and supervisory experience with financial statement preparation, and fiscal reporting to federal, state and local agencies. Demonstrated success in personnel management and office coordination. Thorough knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP) and internal accounting controls. Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting numerous reporting deadlines. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, learn quickly, and work independently and productively in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment. Ability to communicate effectively with administrators, staff, auditors, board members, outside organizations, and other stakeholders at the college.</p> <p>Knowledge and understanding of Federal and State reporting rules and compliance processes, including Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements and grant reporting. Must be able to work in a team environment with project managers while managing multiple deadlines. Demonstrated ability of problem solving, analytical and critical thinking, and decision-making. Must use good judgment and discretion as well as maintain confidentiality.</p> <p>Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.</p> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Most of the job is sedentary, however, occasional periods of light work may be required; </li><li>Lifting up to approximately 35 lbs. occasionally. </li><li>The worker may be exposed to primarily to inside office conditions. </li><li>Visual acuity appropriate for an administrative position, </li><li>Hearing, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching - occasionally, </li><li>Climbing stairs - occasionally, </li><li>Walking, frequently, </li><li>Occasional travel may be required </li></ul> <p>#HEJ</p>
