<p>Hiring Department</p> <p>MizzouRec Services and Facilities is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides quality leisure experiences to all members of the campus community, primarily Mizzou students. Through our facilities and programs, we strive to bring our members and guests an environment that inspires and promotes a healthy, active lifestyle. MizzouRec enhances the student experience by creating a sense of "third place" and belonging with its vast services, facilities, and programming - in addition to its unique connection to campus history and traditions.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>The Fitness Floor Frontline is responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment for the MU Student Recreation Complex. Individuals in this position will provide excellent customer service to members and guests in our active fitness spaces, ensure cleanliness of the spaces, provide alternative exercises or assist with spotting exercises as needed for members, and provide emergency aid when needed.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Enforce all MizzouRec guidelines and policies with members and Team Mizzou staff while upholding established customer service expectations. </li><li>Provide proactive oversight of designated MizzouRec fitness spaces, including the Pump Room, Jungle Gym, Jungle Annex, and Outdoor Fitness Space. </li><li>Monitor, track, and enforce facility capacity limits in accordance with MizzouRec policies and procedures. </li><li>Maintain timely, professional, and effective communication with coworkers, Leads, and full-time MizzouRec staff. </li><li>Remain informed of and up to date on all events held within MizzouRec facilities. </li><li>Identify and report facility conditions, maintenance concerns, and supply restocking needs as necessary. </li><li>Clean, sanitize, and disinfect all strength and cardio equipment, and complete additional cleaning duties throughout the facility to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. </li><li>Work in training areas where free weights up to 45 lbs are regularly used; safely service and adjust equipment; re-rack and move weight plates; and assist participants during exercises. This position requires the ability to independently lift and move up to 45 lbs and, when appropriate, assist individuals with heavier loads as part of spotting or emergency response procedures. </li><li>Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions. </li><li>Adhere to all University, MizzouRec, Team Mizzou, and area specific guidelines. </li><li>As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities is expected to serve the customer and maintain our MizzouRec mission. </li></ul> <p>Anticipated Hiring Range</p> <p>$15.25 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis.</p> <p>Shift</p> <p>Average hours per week: 10-12.</p> <p>Shifts are for 2 hours. This position is responsible for coverage during all hours of facility operation. Hours adjust based on semester and holidays.</p> <p>This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri. Enrollment in the summer session is not required if the student was enrolled in the Spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the Fall semester. Selection is contingent upon results of a review with the Office of Institutional Equity, Office of Student Accountability & Support, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, previous MU appointment history, and reference checks.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Obtain American Red Cross CPR/AED certification within 60 days of start date (MizzouRec will provide classes for staff members free of charge). </li><li>Previous experience in a customer service-related position. </li><li>Ability to work three or more semesters within the department. </li><li>Knowledge and comfortability with resistance training biomechanics, exercise physiology, and spotting for a variety of exercises. </li><li>Solid written and verbal communication skills. </li></ul> <p>Application Materials</p> <p>Complete application, and upload the following: résumé, class schedule, cover letter, and 3 or more references which must include at least 1 MU supervisor (if applicable). The individual demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior, acts responsibly with the interests of the larger community in mind and is able to learn from their mistakes. </li><li>Career Management: Identify and articulate one's skills, strengths, knowledge and experiences relevant to the position desired and career goals, and identify areas necessary for professional growth.
