<p>GI Prescription/ Infusion Nurse (LPN)</p> <p>The LPN functions under the supervision and guidance of the Registered Nurse and Physician, participating in the multi-disciplinary process of providing care and treatment to patients. They will provide clinical support and technical assistance to the professional medical and other staff. The LPN is responsible for functioning within the scope of practice dictated by the authority of the New York State Department of Education. Individual must be able to manage demanding workload with accuracy. Position requires excellent customer service skills with patients, and their families, other staff, physicians, vendors, and the public.</p> <p>Must be able to work Monday - Friday; 8:30 am - 5:00 pm</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Monitors the Prescription Que, sends in prescription refills, completes prior authorizations, works thru appeals and denials, assists patients with copay assistance and free drug programs. </li><li>Reaches out to patients or secretary for patients overdue for office follow up </li><li>Administration and documentation of medications/vaccines in accordance with physician orders and The Five Rights of Medication Administration. </li><li>Responsible for organization, cleaning and stocking Medication Cabinets in all Suites at least monthly </li><li>Meet with or contact Drug Representatives for updates and samples </li><li>Fields patient phone calls, electronic messages and triages, prioritizes messages and responds accordingly. </li><li>Demonstrates proper infection control procedures and follows universal precautions. </li><li>Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the possibility of medical errors. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li><li>Initiate IV lines, draw blood work and monitor vital signs during infusions. </li><li>Demonstrates appropriate use and disposal of hazardous waste. </li><li>Schedule follow up appointments for Infusion patients and track labs as needed </li><li>Create charts for next day Infusion patients </li><li>Assist with Office Triages and support clerical staff with phone calls pertaining to test results under the guidance of the Physician </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Current NYS LPN license required.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience as an LPN in a physician's office</p> </li><li> <p>Current Infection Control Certificate is required.</p> </li><li> <p>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.</p> </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Must demonstrate an understanding of clinical risk.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with EMR systems preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Travel to any of the Premier Medical Group locations may be necessary upon request.</p> </li></ul>
