<p>An opportunity to Inspire, Challenge, and Empower!</p> <p>Posting Information: We are currently hiring for School Counselor at Bordeaux Elementary School. Open until filled.</p> <p>Schedule: 1.0 FTE. School counselors receive additional days for work required before and after the school year as well as outside of the work day during the school year.</p> <p>Location: Boudreaux Elementary</p> <p>Salary: $64,664 - $119,032 annually, depending on experience.</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Benefits: 12 sick leave days of which 6 can be used for personal leave each school year; 5 days bereavement leave per school year; health insurance benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) including medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance. Retirement through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS); other fringe benefits as allowed under the Shelton Education Association (SEA) Collective Bargaining Agreement.</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>School counselors support the Shelton School District's Strategic Plan by helping students apply academic achievement strategies, manage emotions and applying interpersonal skills, and planning for postsecondary options. This includes supporting the development of the master schedule.</p> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Possession of a valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate Certificate. </li><li>Ability to pass a Federal Criminal Background check. </li><li>Willingness to actively support Shelton School District's Strategic plan and initiatives. </li><li>Willingness to use District issued unit plans, lesson plans, and approved curriculum. </li><li>Ability to support students with academic planning and goal setting. </li><li>Ability to identify and analyze data to identify student issues, needs, and challenges and take appropriate actions accordingly. </li><li>Ability to act as a systems change agent to improve access, achievement, and opportunities for all students. </li><li>Ability to support the development of a school master schedule. </li><li>Ability to develop and provide social and emotional learning activities for students. </li><li>Ability to serve on the building's leadership team with a focus on solutions to maximize student success. </li><li>Ability to actively support a positive school culture for staff and students. </li><li>Ability to maintain an upbeat, positive, and collaborative demeanor. </li><li>Ability to develop and maintain professional, positive relationships with students, staff, administrators, families, and the community. </li><li>Willingness to participate in school and building events and activities. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and tact in all aspects of employment. </li><li>Ability to incorporate lightheartedness and humor into the workplace. </li><li>Ability to grow in interpersonal and technical skills with the held belief of being a lifelong learner. </li><li>Ability to make independent decisions as well as work collaboratively with other staff, administrators, families, and community members. </li><li>Ability to serve as a think-partner and use critical thinking skills to perform tasks and make decisions. </li><li>Ability to apply policies, procedures, statutes, and regulations accurately. </li><li>Ability to effectively and efficiently perform work in a fast-paced environment with competing demands through organization, attention to detail, and prioritization. </li><li>Ability to admit faults, learn from mistakes, and take calculated risks. </li><li>Ability to work flexible hours and remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations. </li><li>Necessary skills (both technical and interpersonal) to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Develops and administers a comprehensive school-wide counseling plan, including prevention and intervention programs (e.g. presentations, small groups, etc.) to enhance student success. </li><li>Coordinates with other staff for the completion of school-based work. </li><li>Develops and maintains positive, professional relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners. </li><li>Maintains a positive attitude, assumes good intentions in others, and approaches barriers with a problem-solving frame of mind. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality. </li><li>Coordinates career and college information including College Bound Scholarship applications. </li><li>Provides counsel to students and families to enhance student success in school. </li><li>Develops a variety of special programs for the purpose of providing information to assist students in the successful transition from elementary to middle school and from middle school to junior high school. </li><li>Monitors students' progress (academic and behavior) to identify issues and take appropriate action to increase student success. </li><li>Assists in scheduling student classes to secure appropriate placement. </li><li>Assists in the development of the school's master schedule. </li><li>Assists with state testing, data collection, and school-wide data analysis. </li><li>Participates in various meetings (e.g., family conferences, in-service training, IEP's, etc.) to receive and/or provide information to staff and parents. </li><li>Attends trainings and meetings as directed or appropriate. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul>
